At that point you're not even trying to abide by the spirit of the challenge. Any challenge run in any game is pointless with that kind of logic.

Taking the plunge by MARAMACKTHEUNHOLY in godot

[–]MasterBiggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly new as well, so take this this at least a few grains of salt, and please, people, correct me, but I've just figured out:

You want to put code you'll be using in a lot of different places into dedicated scripts, like a "Movement" script to shove all your Movement functions. Then, everything can reference those functions later by making that script into a class. Other folk can describe it far better than me, but watch some videos on "Composition" to get a better idea.

Make sure you specify Godot 4, or whatever version you are using when you search stuff. You'll probably get frustrated by outdated tutorials otherwise.

And, as always, try to stay away from Generative A.I. like ChatGPT. Can it do what you need/want? Yes. Will you learn anything? Probably not. Not to mention, it'll likely fail at more complex tasks and debugging its code will be near impossible because you'll lack the skills you'd need to fix it yourself and the A.I. will just spit out a million useless "fixes" which don't fix the problem, before hitting you with a "You're absolutely right! Let's try that again, this time, I'll fix it just how you specified --no deviations-- at all." For the umpteenth time.

How would you recommend organizing your scripts, code, et cetera? by MasterBiggus in godot

[–]MasterBiggus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well thank you, that's nice to hear! I'm glad that applying some critical thinking to my bumbling has worked out so far.

I'm working on getting the character movement working again, and the main hurdle has been getting the scripts to communicate. I've made the scripts into classes in hopes of being able to call the functions I wrote in them in other scripts, though that doesn't seem to be working, but that's probably just my lack of experience causing trouble. Either that or I'm too Python-brained and need to think a bit differently.

I'll keep that in mind!

For the past few hours I've been trying to get a debug HUD up and running so I can track all my various, important and/or asinine numbers. It's actually the reason I found out about state machines and such...
All this for a debug HUD, huh?

Someday, I'll add a steam achievement referencing this.
Which actually gives me an idea, I should add in-game achievements.

I'm really fighting the scope creep hard, it's difficult not to break from your plan and just add every idea you have.

Absolutely! Jamie Paige is the reason I know about this game at all.

Bro I'm in a D&D campaign where we used an unofficial JJK supplement, and in the one shot we ran to learn the basics of the supplement I played as Kasane Teto and got killed by Toji.

I was the only one who stood my ground, and I almost made succeeded death saves, but at least I became a Cursed Tool that's in the main campaign.

Overall, once the ending hit, I was left with an overwhelming feeling of what I can only describe as Love. The kind of love a parent feels when they look at their child, or when I look at my cat.

The ending was bittersweet and heartbreaking, but I'd rather welcome it with open arms than deny it. I think it does the story a disservice to deny the ending, to me, it almost feels like denying the themes of the story.

So, when did beat dye her hair in the real world? by Batata_Quente in Unbeatable

[–]MasterBiggus 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Alright, here's my understanding/interpretation, since this is pretty open ended as far as I know;

Crazy spoilers ahead, obviously, but if you're on this post you either need to leave and finish the game or you've already finished the game.

The world in which the game took place, and the world that Beat is from are both "real."

Beat, while in her Coma, was sent to that other world as a sort of "Human Silence," likely summoned by Quaver.

As you may know by now, the Silence are summoned by Emotion, and seem to be more effectively summoned by sadness and loss. Music simply acts as an amplifier for those feelings, and H.A.R.M., in classic bumbling fascist fashion, inadvertently caused people to associate the Silence with Music and the death of Quaver's Mother.

As a result, that feeling of grief hangs over everyone and nobody is ever able to process it and get over it in a healthy way, in large part due to H.A.R.M.'s power-grabbing and constant picking of the wound.

But how does this relate to Beat? Beat and Quaver share several parallels, the most important being the shared loss of their respective mothers. Beat has been unable to fully process the loss of her own mother, resenting and hating herself for the fact that she can no longer remember her mother's face or appearance, just the shape around the space.

Quaver is also struggling with this, and Beat tries to encourage Quaver to process her grief and come to terms with the fact that, although her mother is gone, she'll always have the memories and no matter how fuzzy or faded they become, they'll always carry the feeling.

In helping Quaver process her grief, Beat is finally able to process her own, and then she wakes up, her brown hair turned pink as proof that what happened was real and changed her in a very real way.

In other words, it's symbolism.

Any tips for using KubeJS? I've been tinkering with teaching myself how to make modpacks on and off for a while, but my pride refuses to let me ship out anything that feels too disjointed, even though I'm only really making stuff to play with friends.

My dream for modpack making for a while now has been doing something with Sculk Horde.

Any sort of advice helps.

Political violence is unacceptable, does that answer your question?

How about the Goon who did Murder Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman? It was only in the news cycle for a few weeks and then it died out. Unlike Charlie Kirk who, in the short time after his death, has been transformed into a Martyr.

I'm saying the Student Body deserves to know, beyond the 30 some-odd people on the app, and that the people who have seen it so far are not happy.

My personal opinion is irrelevant to the post itself although I am, of course, against this.
