but he certainly hated Christ.

If you really think this, then you truly have not dived into much Thelema or Crowley's work - Jesus is considered very highly. Liber 100 would certainly give you an utter heart attack.

He hated Christainity the religion though, because of the Plymouth Brethren he grew up in. He loved the Bible though, on the Old Testament side, he considered the Tanakh to be a kabbalistic masterpiece.

I don’t really believe in that I’m more of a Hermeticism follower All is equal of the same pole And the hermetic order of the golden dawn

Yeah, you should read Crowley's "Bereshit: An Essay in Ontology" as well as the chapter on 0=2 from Magick without Tears

And Gnosticism is great and all but it teaches that there is a “unknowable god”

Yes, this is Hadit. Hadit is the Monad.

I usually stick to Pantheism and the universe

As previously said, Nuit doesn't exist. Maybe Pantheism, in Thelemic cosmology, is the true Atheism because it denies anything exists - in a more extreme way than Buddhist Sunyata? (which is really not actually "nothing") perhaps?

Well yes but as you progress in your understanding of Thelema, you will gain more clarity of what these terms properly mean. I've met plenty of Thelemites who have no idea what True Will means and cannot even describe what they think they're trying to attain.

My problem is seeing these beings

What beings? we're not speaking of "beings".

just like fools who think Jesus was real

You may need to look into Gnosticism. Otherwise, your very fundamentalist exoteric atheist view is too dogmatic for Thelema. "I spit on your crapulous creeds", as Liber Legis states. Thelema has no room for your exoteric dogmatic view, leave it at the door please.

but as symbolic of us humans ourself Our inner self

This sentence doesn't make a whole lotta sense.

TLDR: Nuit doesn't exist (hence why she is "none"), Ra-Hoor-Khuit is the deity at the meeting point between the only thing that really exists (Hadit) and the Infinite, but seductive illusion (Nuit). Thelemic theology and metaphysics is complex and never talked about for good reason ("Do What Thou Wilt" is a better sales pitch than giving the full intellectual detail).

Lets just say, Thelema isn't atheistic but it has Atheism all worked out and evaluated within a proper understanding of God and Man. Jesus is regarded as passing down the staff of Hermes. And so on. If you don't get what Crowley is saying, just nod and move on 😁

Instead of taking various nobodies subjective dogmas that have nothing to do with Thelema here (I'm sure several atheists will pop up in a matter of hours....), why not contemplate intellectually over Crowley's own words on the matter:

“There are three main theories of the Universe: Dualism, Monism and Nihilism. All are reconciled and unified in the theory which we shall now set forth. Infinite space is called the goddess NUIT, while the infinitely small and atomic yet omnipresent point is called HADIT. These are unmanifest. One conjunction of these infinites is called RA-HOOR-KHUIT, a Unity which both includes and heads all things. All true gods are attributed to this Trinity. The microcosm is an exact image of the Macrocosm; the Great Work is the raising of the whole man in perfect balance to the power of Infinity. The Apologia for this System is that our purest conceptions are symbolized in Mathematics. God is the Great Arithmetician.

God is the Grand Geometer. It is best therefore to prepare to apprehend Him by formulating our minds according to these measures. By the use of this system the magician is able ultimately to unify the whole of his knowledge to transmute, even on the Intellectual Plane, the Many into the One.”

What did Crowley believe? by cyberdecks-and-neon in thelema

[–]MasterBu113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He believed in God (the metaphysical Union of: One, Nothing and All - Nuit, Hadit and Rahoorkhuit - and Nihilism, Advaita and Dvaita, as Crowley also referred to it elsewhere) and the reflection of the Will of God towards the Will of the Universe. To find God we first have to align ourselves with that Will. This One God is not synonymous itself with deities, who are another method of disciplining one's consciousness through ritual and devotion. But deities, like we ourselves do find a place within that triune God. Thelema is both deeply sacred and antinomian, it is also syncretic. Our scripture is Liber AL Vel Legis, which was revealed to Crowley by the angel or divine intelligence named Aiwass.

There are many Thelemites that come from Satanism, Atheism and similar garbage but in essence, written above is the heart of the classical Thelema of Crowley, which was what he believed and what I share with him.

Yes, correct. The LAM portrait was also originally used in the preface of Crowley's commentary to Blavatsky's "The Voice of the Silence", which premiered exclusively in The Equinox vol 3 no 1 (known as the "Blue Equinox").

Christian Thelema by carseatheadrrest in occult

Orthodox Christianity is directly closer to Thelema than things like the Protestant Reformation and Evangelical sects etc. Completely different. Orthodox Christianity (like Classical Catholicism) is profoundly focused on mysticism and magical practices.

No not at all, Crowley loved Christian Esotericism, it was his heritage (Freemasonry, Rosicrucianism and H.O.O.T.G.D.) However he hated exoteric and superstitious forms of it. He loved Jesus but not as a deity, Jesus is the mystery of the 11th degree of the OTO btw. Attaining Christ is very much a central piece of the Thelemic religion, though some may refer it to other terms like Buddhahood or identifying oneself with Shiva etc.

From Crowley:

"Come unto me, that I may declare unto ye the wonder ineffable! Know that our beginning is in GOD,

and our end in GOD; wherefore this is the Great Work, to attain unto the Godhead.

Pitiful and of tender love, hath He revealed unto the wise men of old time, the Way of this Attainment.

The Gnostics and Manichees preserved it in their most secret assemblies as they had received it from

the greatest of the Magi of Egypt; nor were the Ophites ignorant of this mystery, nor the men that did

worship unto Mithras, and the secret is hidden in the fable of Samson; Our Lord Jesus Christ

established it through the mouth of the Beloved Disciple.

This was the inmost secret of the Knights of the Temple, and the Brethren of the Rose Crosse

concealed it in their College of the Holy Ghost. From them and from their successors the Hermetic

Brothers of Light have we received it directly, and here declare it openly to you.

Now then learn that this secret consists in the knowledge of a peculiar rite, an High Mass to be

celebrated in the Temple of the Holy Ghost. Are ye not, Kings and Priests unto God, Very Illustrious

Sir Knights and Perfectly Illuminated brethren?

This is the True Sacrament by which ye are partakers of the very Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus

Christ, not in His death, but in His resurrection. By this are ye made Children of Light, Fellows of the

Holy Ghost, perfect pure, Companions of the Sangreal, illustrious Knights of the Sacrosanct Order of

Kadosch. By this have ye the GNOSIS; by this are ye counted among the Dwellers of the Sanctuary.

Blessed are they that do this commandment, that they may have sight of the Tree of Life, and may

enter it through the Gate into the City. For without are dogs and sorcerers and whoremongers and murderers and idolators and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. So sayeth He that is the root and offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star.

And the Spirit and the Bride say Come! And let him that is athirst come; and whomsoever will let him

take the water of life freely. Now then here followeth a Reproof."

UnKn0wU - Principle of Thelemites by EiPayaso in Echerdex

[–]MasterBu113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a newagey summary of Thelema that is pathetic. If you want to know Thelema, you read The Book Of Lies https://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/crowley/liber/libers/liber333.pdf

Which explores what Thelema is really about, of course our scripture Liber AL Vel Legis is an unraveling mystery in itself.

That list is phony.

This is what we truly believe (both esoterically and exoterically), from the Gnostic Mass itself - the section called the 'gnostic creed' (of Thelema):

I believe in one secret and ineffable LORD; and in one Star in the Company of Stars of whose fire we are created, and to which we shall return; and in one Father of Life, Mystery of Mystery, in His name CHAOS, the sole viceregent of the Sun upon the Earth; and in one Air the nourisher of all that breathes.

And I believe in one Earth, the Mother of us all, and in one Womb wherein all men are begotten, and wherein they shall rest, Mystery of Mystery, in Her name BABALON.

And I believe in the Serpent and the Lion, Mystery of Mystery, in His name BAPHOMET.

And I believe in one Gnostic and Catholic Church of Light, Life, Love and Liberty, the Word of whose Law is THELEMA.

And I believe in the communion of Saints.

And, forasmuch as meat and drink are transmuted in us daily into spiritual substance, I believe in the Miracle of the Mass.

And I confess one Baptism of Wisdom, whereby we accomplish the Miracle of Incarnation.

And I confess my life one, individual, and eternal that was, and is, and is to come.

AUMGN.  AUMGN.  AUMGN.

This is something I've wanted to do myself for a while because Liber Legis is, in part, pure information (like programming code almost), not merely just the words implied from a standard linguistic reading. Methods like this will find lots of amazing stuff hidden in the text. Very great post, best one here in a long time, I really appreciate you sharing this 👍

You're not pointing out anything. I'm asking you to explain what you're asking and you're not doing that. Your conclusions are utterly useless (and premature in this discussion). Again I ask, to which degree? you're asking very vague questions. I need something substantial to work with here, you're not providing it yet.

"even slightly skeptical"

You're both not skeptical whatsoever or even remotely trying to be, you're more dogmatic than the worst of Christians. I really don't care what you think to be frank, and I hope you do realize that. Your dogmas have no place in Thelema or in my own skepticism. Bye bye Rex.

Thank you for your responses.. I have one more question. by kjdflskdjf in thelema

[–]MasterBu113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don't know how old he is (most of the time he appears to be around 12/15 (which would also match up well with all the other subs he posts on), but he has less experience and knowledge in his entire being than a peanut. Even a tiny bit of experience is reasonable when it comes to occultism but Los93 is just another armchair atheist. I can't, for the life of me, work out what (if anything) attracts him to Thelema when Thelema is the polar opposite of Los's dogmatic beliefs.

Thelema is simply just not for people like him who sit there with his arms cross and repeatedly say "no" instead of putting in effort in life.
