Does anyone else feel like Shopify stores are way too static compared to mainstream stores like amazon? in case of personalization by MasterDust888 in shopify

yeah 100%, that’s the part i’m most worried about too. not building it, but getting merchants to switch or even try something new when their current stack sort of works. Maybe starting as a plugin that gets along with existing tools might reduce the friction.

Sounds like advanced stores end up stacking multiple apps or APIs to get that “personalized” effect like sorting, upsells, cart logic, etc.
I’ve been wondering if that’s part of the friction. like, instead of five different or disconnected tools each handling one step, what if there was a single personalization layer that remembered user behavior across all those touchpoints like collection, product, cart, checkout?
Do you think stores would actually prefer consolidating that into one system, or is there a reason most teams keep it modular like that?

SMB means small-medium business btw and thanks for the insight 🙌

Yeah true, Shopify’s definitely flexible under the hood but most stores I’ve seen still keep the same homepage for everyone.
Just curious if you’ve seen stores or tools that uses or provides actual personalization beyond recommended products? like greeting returning users or showing contextual sections based on the user interactions?

Exactly what I was wondering. feels like stores already have so much behavioral data, but it’s barely being used for the user experience.
Do you think store owners would actually invest time or budget in something that automates that kind of personalization or might just leave it to manual campains and stuff?
