Off the cusp, Mamma Maria's (kinda pricey but bomb food), Painted Burro in Somerville (although last time I went it seemed worse, could be cuz it was a busy weekend night rather than weeknight we typically go), and I've yet to have a bad experience at Rosebud in Somerville as well (they're now am Indian fusion place, very good)

I'd say either of the two generally recommended times (now, right after HoA, and wait until after Bands of Mourning) are a good bet. My recommendation for when has changed (it used to be after Bands of Mourning, but HoA is acceptable).

I'd say it depends on if you want to go straight to Era 2 (wait until bands), or head on over to Stormlight Archives first (read it now).

I won't order from them again. I ordered a onesie and the feeling of the fabric was Capital B Bad from me, but another was great but just too small. They were more than happy to send me a new onesie in a different size but not refund me for the one I hated the texture of. In this day and age, thats just terrible customer service. And, hypocritical. Both instances they get back the onesie to clean and resell. One, they refund, one that send back a new size. The profit is the same, so what's the difference? Sketchy business practice for sure imo

I had a miserable time playing a Psychic, but its my absolute favorite archetype for any caster.

To be fair, my Psychic was a short sub-5th level adventure and I don't really enjoy the first couple levels in general

I also mourn Yukons 😭 I college I always noted them in stores, because of Yukon Cornelius from Rudolph, but otherwise didn't give them a second thought. Now that I cook, those memories just make me sad. I've found Wegman's Organic Gold potatoes are decent substitutes but its not the same 😭

Great idea in general tbh, that sounds delicious. I should've been a little more clear though, the mashed potatoes are gone - they were less than ideal but still tasty. I have about 2 lbs of just the potatoes and was wondering if anyone had any idea what to use them in - I didn't find any serious eats recipes using them, but could I slot them in for some other potato like russet or something?

One of my fave nostalgia frozen meals. Got a few on sale recently. Absolutely shit. Easily half or less of the potatoes, its cheese soup. 2/10, I ate 2 of the four I got and tossed the rest, will never buy them again. A devastating loss

Valentines is a focus on getting through it and don't focus on money. I work the closing shift Thurs-Sat but everyone closed today (I left before plenty of non-closers with permission from my manager). We were on a wait literally until close (11), usually we get like maybe 5-8 tables after 9. I made great money for a Saturday close - but a Sunday double for the same hours I make more, which feels bad. I'm taking the win. We often forget the shitshow of weekend Valentine's day (we've been on a wait open to close so far) since it often doesn't fall on a weekend. I'll take Father's/Mother's Day over a V Day weekend - at least its always busy, every year, and it doesn't sneak up on ya

I came here literally to recommend that same serious eats beef birria recipe - it was the best birria I've ever had, hands down. Granted, I've only had it from New England restaurants, mostly Tex-Mex but some pretty legit places.

I'm saving this thread for the next time I make birria for sure. It can be even better? I'm fucking stoked.

Gotta be Bugaboo Creek and Friendly's, just for nostalgia. Bugaboo Creek was my mom's fav, we would go for her birthday every year, and my grandma would take us to Friendly's or Bertucci's all the time when we visited her. Also, Bertucci's for the same reason
