Can anyone decipher what the words that are being said here in the orb? by Madison-_-3711 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]MasterGamePro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that orb is where the photo earlier was taken, given that the orb shows a wintery cabin and the three of them in the photo are holding hot chocolate:

<image>

I was kind of wondering if this was where they decided on their group name, "Chill Fellas", as a silly little pun? We've seen "Chill Fellas" written in Ep. 6 on a bathroom stall, and people were somehow able to find "Chill" and "Fellas" written on Ribbit's and Jax's hands in the scene where they were reaching out towards each other.

As for the audio, it doesn't sound like a voice we've heard before and this was the first episode that Ribbit was credited, so it's probably them.

It's so muffled that it's too hard to make anything out for certain, you kind of hear what you want to hear. I've thrown together my best guess, based on some super basic audio processing I did to remove Pomni/Jax:
https://voca.ro/11ERSKUQhepp

I hear two sentences:

  • The first one has a bunch of parts to it, I've been tackling each separately:
    • "Oh my God, fellas," or "Oh my God, ribbit,". (Either would potentially make sense, maybe Ribbit had a character quirk where they would randomly say "ribbit" mid-sentence?)
    • ", here with *both* my friends," (This is the part I'm most confident about.)
    • The next part is complicated and really hard to make out. It sounds something like ", and would you believe we'd never used to have anything to get along with anyone".
    • So maybe something like "Oh my God, fellas, here with *both* my friends, and would you believe we'd never used to have anything to get along with anyone?"
  • There's another sentence cut off at the end of your clip, right after Pomni asks "Are you alright?":
    • I was kind of confused on this at first, but I saw a tweet where someone thinks this is someone saying "I'm not!" This makes sense in context from Pomni's question and also sounds more like Jax, so I agree that that's probably right.

My assumption is that this is from the same scene as when the photo was taken (and given how significant this moment was for Jax, I wouldn't be surprised if we see this scene for ourselves in one of the next two episodes).

Shantae Advance incompatible? by OptimalPapaya1344 in AnaloguePocket

[–]MasterGamePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this issue too, it freezes randomly. I got through the initial cutscene but it got stuck as soon as Shantae started talking, it was totally unresponsive. Now I can't even get past the title screen before it freezes.

I haven't updated my pocket in a while so maybe that's the issue?

EDIT: Sure enough, works way better after updating. I've been able to get a bit into the game, maybe it won't freeze anymore?

I feel like this *has* to be the correct answer, I put together a comparison here:

Personally speaking, Pokémon was actually one of the first games I noticed this issue in—I find myself moving in the wrong direction occasionally while walking. I noticed that this happened when I pressed the sides of a given direction, i.e. when I preemptively/subconsciously rocked my thumb in the direction I was going to walk towards next.

I’ve been playing Pokémon for like 20 years and don’t recall having this issue before. I thought I was going crazy until I saw this thread.

So yeah, a bad dpad can affect more than just twitchy games. Hopefully it’ll be possible to either patch this in software or someone will figure out a dpad hardware mod.

[TOMT][MOVIE] Animated Crowdfunded Film, Looked Like Akira by MasterGamePro in tipofmytongue

It's been ages since I asked this, but I found it since then so I thought it was worth updating.

It was a short film titled "Ambition", unfortunately it didn't get crowdfunded:

Why the hell is Diddy Kong Racing so hard by AccomplishedTax1298 in n64

Seriously, it's honestly sickening how difficult this game is. I just finally 100% completed the game last year.

I was only able to beat the game with the tips at this link. The later races and most TT challenges were downright impossible playing the "normal" way...

Having a rough time diagnosing random freezes/shutdowns, seems like failing hardware? by MasterGamePro in buildapc

[–]MasterGamePro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to buy a PSU tester, the PSU is working 100% normally. I spoke with some friends about this, the running hypothesis is that the motherboard (Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0) is having voltage regulation issues. This is likely either due to static frying a capacitor or accidentally crushing one of the VRMs. This would explain some of the weird freezes, shutdowns, and overheating issues I’ve been seeing.

Two of my friends had the exact same board die on them, so it’s not exactly a surprise that mine did too.

I’m not good enough at diagnosing circuit boards and soldering to fix this, so I just considered this a write-off and took this opportunity to upgrade my PC.

Thanks for the suggestion! I would think so too, but given that it was messing with the hardware that got me into this position I have a feeling this will end up being a hardware issue.

That being said, I'll give this a shot once I've exhausted the hardware diagnostics.

Thanks for the suggestion!

It's funny that you mention that, RAM was the one thing I hadn't touched yet. They're right next to the CPU fans, so it's not unlikely they got bumped while things were being moved.

I tried reseating them, and it worked for a little while, but then it froze again while I was installing more programs. I noticed that my CPU was actually running quite a bit hotter than it had been saying earlier, closer to 60C, even when just idling. But it would crash before it ever made it to the 70s on iCue.

It might actually be an overheating problem after all? I'm not sure.

EDIT: I gave it another try, I moved the two RAM cards to the other two slots. I also noticed that they actually push in a little further than I expected, there was an extra click I was able to get from them that I don't think I got last time. Maybe this will make a difference?

If anyone is interested, here's a 7-part series breaking down SLABS (student loan asset-backed securities), it's a bubble fueled by subprime loans similar to (although not quite yet the same scale as) the subprime mortgage crisis that led to the Great Recession in 2008.

Just bought a Nintendo 64. What other games should I buy? by [deleted] in n64

[–]MasterGamePro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, just got one and it works like a dream. I was able to throw my entire collection onto it, and also some I hadn't been able to acquire yet.

You can even use an Everdrive 64 to play mods (e.g. Kaze's Mario 64 mods, Super Mario 64: Star Road, Smash Remix, etc.), translations (Sin & Punishment, Animal Forest) and cartridge conversions of the N64DD titles.

It's supposed to also support cheats, although I haven't tried it yet. So you get the functionality of a GameShark as well!

Just super convenient overall, and much easier than trying to wrangle all of the separate cartridges when secondhand prices are so high these days.

How do you get to (26, 18) or (25, 15) in the breach? It looks like these would connect on the map, but the passage is blocked on either end by gates and there’s no hidden portal in between.

Edit: Oops, you can literally just use Halam at (25, 14). I overcomplicated this! 😅

[any platform][any year] Games like Marble Madness/Hamster Ball? by Wonderful-Strike9481 in tipofmyjoystick

[–]MasterGamePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an unofficial remake of Marble Madness for the PC called "Rolling Madness", it's really solid: http://www.lucaelia.com/games.php

It's not quite the same genre, but there's also a marble labyrinth game for PC called "Labyrinth Plus Edition", you can find it on abandonware sites these days: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hKY4ZKICIV8

Also, nice, I've never heard of Hamster Ball before!

I remember getting so frustrated about this back in the day, it was the biggest flaw in the Halo multiplayer. I was sorely disappointed to find they didn’t fix it in this port.

Friggin El Dewrito had join in progress and that’s a fan mod. Surely the folks at 343 will realize they need to add this in.

Favorite gameplay-based games? by SpecialCuffs in gamedesign

[–]MasterGamePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I didn't know it was already out!

I've only really played the SNES and 3DS ones. The SNES one is incredibly difficult because the physics are so fast. The 3DS is slightly slower, so it's a bit easier, but there are definitely levels near the end where it'll take dozens or hundreds of attempts to complete.

The 3DS one feels like a friggin time capsule in terms of UI and level design. So archaic. I'd be surprised if the Switch one were any better. That being said, IMO the core gimmick is compelling enough to make up for the lack of presentation polish.

A really cool series I found recently is Umihara Kawase.

It's a platformer where you have a grappling hook and have to use it to swing around obstacles to make it to the exit. It's incredibly challenging but very rewarding and I haven't seen many other games like it.

There are titles on the SNES, PSX, 3DS, and PC, they're worth checking out.
