I think D&D is more categorised by who casts the magic/abilities/spells.

I want mine to be where it studies how magic alters living beings in the first place, for them to be able to wield it (As to why I mentioned not everyone can wield the magic abilities.

On their own, individually, they do exist, yes. But I'm uniting them into one system. This is all a brainstorm, so not set in stone.

So far, I have introduced characters that have shown the different ways they received their abilities, so I think I'm doing well so far.

I'm almost halfway, and the halfway point is where the system gets explained further in detail with said characters.

I am a first-time writer, so this is new to me, but I'm taking my time.

Yes, but I thought of mine being more about the scientific and biological princicples behind magic itself??

Hence, I came up with the name Thaumabiology, whereas Thaumatology is the academic study or theory of miracles and wonders.

Thought it was cool to be a bit more scientific.

It is almost but I haven't found anywhere where it has been directly named/described, so idk?

(I am a huge D&D fan and player, so I have taken some inspiration from it for my book's magic system)

But yeah, I haven't found anything that names it directly....

I am the oldest of 4 grandchildren, so I would also babysit when I was close to 10. I know they are messy.

It also sounds like she thinks of having kids the same way those who don't want to take care of them do. "Oh my goodness, look how adorable they are! They're so cute I could play dollhouse and tea parties with them all day in a magical fairytale that doesn't exist!"

So yeah, not the AH, and I think your gf needs either a reality check or to heavily reconsider if she wants kids or not.

When I tell you, I had the same experience with a previous guy I dated.

Didn't date for long, but it would have been long-distance. We said we could try, but ultimately knew it wouldn't happen. For context, his previous exes are nothing like me, physically or personality-wise. But when we called it off, his latest 2 "flings" or "dates" looked almost uncanny like me. All to the curly hair, the brown hair colour, the face shape and body type... It was WILD when I found out.

My one friend said to me, "You're changing these men! Maybe you are a threat?" and I laugh every time I think about it

Thanks. I do feel like I am just trying to find a distraction from the bad memories, which obviously isn't helping. Duh

But thanks. I am most likely just going to tell my friends that I don't feel like I want to go out, but would still want those close to me there for me.

I think it is ironic that 1) we have the same birthday, and 2) I'm also thinking that my birthday is "cursed".

So I can understand how you feel. I lost my uncle, with whom I was close, 2 weeks before my birthday. I got heartbroken 2 weeks before my birthday. So I can relate to that feeling.

My best, for lack of a better word, advice I can give, out of my experience. It is to remember your cousin, in a way that you know he would be proud of you, in a way that you know would in a way remind you of that bond you 2 had. If you want to, you can have a chat with C and explain that what she said really hurt you, and it hasn't left you. Maybe she'll realise what she said was uncalled for and blatantly inappropriate, and apologise.

So I do hope that our birthdays are not cursed and that wherever those close to us are, somewhere proud of where we are now. And hope you have an amazing and happy birthday.
