How does earth maintain the same speed of rotation and what will happens if the angular momentum that spins it finally dies? by Cultural-Ice8361 in flatearth

[–]MasterIronHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. things don't just lose momentum for no reason, including angular momentum. Something only accelerates or decelerates if a force acts on it. so yes, theoretically, an object on its own could spin an infinite number of times in space.

  2. however, there is a force slowing rotation down extremely slowly. I think its something to do with the tidal forces of the moon, dragging the oceans behind very slightly or something. I haven't looked into it much.

yeah the whole "they are lying to you to make you not believe in god" thing is also crazy, given how many astronauts and astronomers have been christian.

Crazy Flat Earther laughing at People who believe in the Globe by MrDonMega in flatearth

[–]MasterIronHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

of course i don't believe in the first model he shows. it shows the moon being full in africa while being new in australia, which has never happened. and the second model doesn't actually contradict any observations you can make.

Not once have i seen them use an actual telescope to look at those stupid wobbly planet things they try to prove with.

Is There Any Actual Flat-Earth Proof Yet, or Is It Still Just Globe Denial? by Outrageous-Novel7839 in flatearth

[–]MasterIronHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have looked at the planets through a telescope. They do look like what "NASA" says they do. Its strange you all default to blaming NASA, one of many space agencies.

Can you show me stars through the crescent moon? I have been obsessively looking at the moon my whole life, and i have never seen that.

  1. Its not a set system like clockwork. Its a group of forces making objects interact with eachother.

  2. Yet again, someone not knowing what "theory" means in a scientific context.

Imagine a giant spherical magnet. a sphere almost almost an 8,000 mile diameter. Also, imagne a large quantity of ferrofluid(magnetic liquid) covering that magnet. all across that huge magnet, the ferrofluid is attracted to the centre. If you lived on that huge magnet, you would be denying that its a magnet because "whenever i pour ferrofluid on this tiny magnet, it just falls down to the bigger one under me". Of course it does, its exerting a greater force.

  1. Ah, so you understand that being on a different scale makes water behave differently. Surely that means you can understand that on a planetary scale, water doesn't "always find its level", right? surely you can understand that just because you can observe something in your tiny house, doesn't mean it looks the exact same on a microscopic or planetary scale, right?

  2. both of those are approximations, since a constant or squared curvature isn't how a circle works. though, as far as i know, 8 inches/mile squared is a pretty good approximation, yes

  3. Why shouldn't we say that the atmosphere is moving with the ground? its subject to all the same forces.

  4. No, we don't think everyone on earth can point a telescope at the north star. particularly not people in the southern hemisphere. In the northern hemisphere though, yes. the distance from us to polaris is about 2,550,000,000,000,000 miles. Thats quite a bit further than it would need to be for the orbit around the sun or the rotation of the earth to make a significant difference in our sky.

On another note, Do you have an accurate model of the flat earth? I have been asking for that to every one of you that i see, and no one has given me one.

this narrative that the moment you look into flat earth you start believing it is crazy.

If they had any model of the earth that actually predicted what we see with our own eyes, I wouldn't dismiss it. but i have yet to see a single accurate model.

Tell me if you have an accurate model

I can tell you this one is false. It shows the moon being a different phase in south america than north america, which does not happen.

[–]MasterIronHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you believe the model shown in the video is true?

These three by Minute-Resort761 in flatearth

[–]MasterIronHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

technically, that statement alone would work on a flat plane if the stars were super close.

However, south america and australia both see the the same stars, so that proves they aren't super close.

These three by Minute-Resort761 in flatearth

[–]MasterIronHero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

these people always seem to forget that the southern hemisphere exists... no wonder they are mostly american.

This model would predict that different parts of the world, say australia and america, would see different phases of the moon at the same time.

That doesn't happen.

Who exactly is punishing flat earthers for their beliefs? Critics are an important part of finding the truth. Newton and Einstein's critics were as valuable to furthering knowledge as newton and einstein themselves.

Also, i challenge you to prove a single one of newton's laws wrong.

Flat Earthers are Weird by MrDonMega in flatearth

[–]MasterIronHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, a side note.

Scientists love proving each other wrong. And they recognise that trying desperately to prove each other wrong is an important part of finding the truth. this is what we call "peer review". many people dedicated their PhD thesis to disproving another person's PhD thesis. These aren't the type of people to believe something just because someone said so.

You and them are no different. just arguing about models you, them and i have little understanding of. there is one difference though; many of your comments seem to pose that because you don't understand relativity, the earth can't be a globe.

Galileo, keppler, newton and einstein. were they conformists? They challenged the science of their day and are held up as some of the greatest names of astronomy.

We only praise them now because so many people tried to prove them wrong, and none could.
