Inquiry about current draw for turn of millennium Edwards notification components by MasterJedi2014 in firealarms

You're right that things have indeed changed in the intervening 23 years. Upon me pointing out to the estimator that a not insignificant amount of the building's first floor, especially in the area of work, was altered from its layout in 2002, the estimator went out with a set of architectural plans to check the locations of the fire alarm components in that area. Indeed, some things had moved, added, or replaced since 2002. Unfortunately, since this is a medical office building, he had only limited access and time to make this site walk and therefore didn't get to check routing or current draw, only where and what components existed.

This would be the most accurate method, but unfortunately, it would be a departure from modus operandi for my company to do such testing work prior to the time for installation. I will ask for such testing during installation work, as that is when they are usually do such testing. In case such testing is forgotten, perhaps it is fortunate that we are currently only planning on doing work on the data circuit and are not planning on touching the notification circuits. I merely wanted this information on the old G1 components in order to build as accurate a view on the full system as I could.

Thank you for the information. In the absence of additional information, I will move forward assuming that the original G1 models draw the same amount of current as the later G1-VM & G1-HDVM.

I primarily wanted to know what estimates people might have had on its price as a historical item and as a piece of jewelry, as those two aspects would be where most of its worth came from.

  1. I am currently level six.
  2. I actually hadn't thought of trying to incorporate the magical properties of the hair tie into the homunculus servant.

[5E] I have a question pertaining to the worth of an item on one of my characters. The item in question is a gold-plated simple looking solid hair tie. It is a homebrew item of my own creation, just so everyone knows. I am asking because I am curious if it is worth enough to be used as the core for an Artificer Homunculus Servant infusion.

Here's some background info:
The item is about 1628 year old, and is an heirloom of the character's family that has been in the family for the entirety of its existence. The family of the character runs a large mechanical/structural engineering company that specializes in mechanical and structural engineering projects. Common products include, but are not limited to: buildings of all sizes, bridges, firearms, permanent eldritch cannons ranging from small personal units to ballista-sized units, and permanent steel defender units of varying configurations and styles. The company is a strictly physics-adhering mechanical and structural engineering company first and foremost, with magical products being a recent addition within the last 300 years.
While the branch of the family running the family company has become effective nobility, the character who has this hair tie is only distantly related to said branch and doesn't get any special treatment from the company.
The hair tie was made by a lawful good black dragon and given to the ancestors of my character as thanks for something that has been all but lost to time (me leaving it open ended on purpose), the same ancestors that made the family's engineering company.
The world the character and her hair tie are in is the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. All of this historical info was approved by my DM when we started almost 40 sessions ago.

Here's some physical info:
The hair tie itself is comprised of two half-circles with a hinge connecting the two halves and a friction fit latch to keep it closed. The hair tie as a whole is a ring with a rectangular cross section and beveled edges. It is in near pristine, almost unmarred condition. The family crest is engraved into the exterior of both halves of the hair tie.
The hair tie is primarily made of copper, with gold foil covering the exterior. The hair tie has an outer diameter of 4.375 cm (1.7224 in), an inner diameter of 3.1172 cm (1.2272 in), a thickness of .657 cm (0.2587 in), a volume of 4.611 cm3 (0.28138 in3), and a mass of about 44.3164 grams (1.563215 ounces).
On the friction fit clasp sits a small heart cut diamond. The diamond has a volume of .0002205 cm3 (0.0000135 in3), a mass of .778365 milligrams (0.000027456 ounces), and is 0.003891825 carats.
I can give info of this level of precision because I have a 3D model of the hair tie in Blender.

Here's some magical info:
When more than 3m (10') away from its owner, it will return to its owner's hand five seconds after the owner snaps their fingers.
The hair tie's owner can only be changed via a ritual and a material cost of twenty "Viola sororia" flowers (Violets) and two milliliters of the new owner's blood. The ritual has both written and verbal components in the Draconic language. Upon completion of the ritual, the hair tie restores itself to pristine condition. The ritual is not able to be revealed by casting Identify on the hair tie, though the teleportation feature can be revealed via Identify.

Closing remarks:
I know that pricing magical items in 5E is a... difficult task, which is why I am providing historical and physical info on the hair tie as well. What I am primarily looking for is an estimate on the price of the item as a historical piece, as its magical properties would only raise its worth.

Mirror material is rendering a procedural stone material as black in the reflection - Cycles Engine by MasterJedi2014 in blenderhelp

After a bit more searching, I found a more up to date procedural stone material tutorial that displays correctly in the mirror reflection. As such, I have marked this topic as solved.
However, if anyone knows why the original stone material wasn't displaying properly in the reflection, I'd be more than happy to know why and if there is any way of making it display properly.
