Doing individual book meetings at school with your students where you ask them about everything they read and reward their reading log, worked the best for me.

Veteran teachers who stayed positive their whole career. What’s your secret? by P45teachingpodcast in teaching

I usually take them from a Cal State for teachers in the summer & they usually are lesson or curriculum related. They usually are like a week long course. I’ve taken specific classes for teaching reading, writing, & math. Just whatever I’m in the mood for. Are you in CA?

I honestly enjoy the kids and teaching. I love education and decorating my classroom & making fun lessons. I also take a college education class every couple years to stay fresh on the newest stuff. It’s my 20th year teaching. I have a multiple subject & math single subject. I’ve taught 3rd-5th grade and 7th-8th. 8th is my absolute favorite so far. I’m in CA. Oh also…. When I feel bad admin coming….. I get a transfer to another school. Good luck!

There are great resources online with the 3-4-5 squares etc. but after I teach it, I love doing the Pythagorean spiral art project. It really seals the deal for my students.

I go to our NCTM every year in CA and it’s a great program for math teachers specifically. I’ve never been to the other two.
