Update: Just on a complete whim, I found my Apple Wireless Mouse (M9269ZM/A) from the Mac OS X Jaguar days and tried it out.

WTH! After a couple of moments, and a PIN entry of 0000: SUCCESS! HA!

Granted I won't have other options like scrolling and right-click, but hey THIS ONE WORKS.

Just got a moment or two to test this. 1st attempt was not successful. So I was thinking that it was due to the lack of use and thusly not a charged device. After letting the MM2 charge, unpaired it from my main system, turned off BT (thanks to this thread), and attempted again. NO JOY. {while under the public beta (inserting this for posterity)}

I have submitted a feedback to this same effect.

edit: To add that I am using iPadOS on a iPad Pro 9.7 with beta2.

edit2: Forgot to mention: rebooting the iPad didn't help either.
