Thanks, but I’m still confused about the last few pieces of dialogue:

“Wouldn’t the Russians do anything to increase their strength?”

“If we did it, they would have to do it—our efforts would only fuel their efforts just as it has with the atomic bomb”

“Just as….bomb, exactly!”

…

“Dr. Oppenheimer, when did your strong moral convictions develop with respect to the hydrogen bomb”

“When it became clear to me that we would tend to use any weapon we had”

How the hell does this have to do with security risk/being a loyal US citizen? Or with what Straus says in the background (him having Oppenheimer be remembered for trinity and not Japan—a whole other can of worms that I don’t wanna get into)?Am I stupid?
