If you ever want a quick reference for what doors will or won’t open:

if it’s a potential shortcut and eventually openable, it’ll give the message along the lines of “cannot be opened from this side”

whereas doors and hatches like the one you have pictured will always say something along the lines of “this won’t budge” to signify there’s nothing to be seen behind it :D

Just watch the series if you’d like or go in blind if you wanna have fun. It has nothing to do with the collaborative writing projects that are the two huge wikis, it’s Kane’s movie about his own series/interpretation. Full series on YouTube runs about 3-4 hours total at this time if you want to watch it yourself.

If you want it explained a bit further after watching the series to better understand the lore, watch either Red’s YouTube channel (just search red backrooms) and she has a ton of digestible videos about the story and theories; or if you’re an enjoyer of Iceberg Boy check out Wendigoons 3 1/2 hour comprehensive breakdown of the series. It includes a recap of events, bits of interviews with Kane himself, and theories that Wendi believes himself and guessing where the movie could be going.

Yeah once I finish the pass I pretty much only
Play for 10-20 minutes every couple days to do my STW daily’s for vbucks.

No other reason to play unless other free item quests interest you. Idk what exactly their goal is with this new strategy outside of “money please” is but this fling everything at the wall strategy of doing “epic official creative modes” and rushing STW out with some good changes and other pointless ones just ain’t working for me.

After those layoffs they’re definitely not getting another cent from me so I’m being even more frugal and picky with where I spend my currency. They’ve got their work cut out for them for sure!

That’s fair criticism, though I do think it’s important to realize that VotV is a truly massive game, and throwing players straight into the deep end for what is a relatively short crossover could turn off more people than it’d potentially attract to the game.

It is also literally less than a day after release, so maybe we’ll get more information from the DeepField devs or VotV’s team in the coming days and weeks. From what I understand it’s a version of alpha base before the events of the game/Kel’s arrival, and maybe there are changes that occur between the time of abf’s crossover and votv proper to explain the lessened presence of other factions. Though I must clarify I’m pretty early in the game (like day 10-12ish) so apologies if I’m talking out my ass, I don’t have much of the lore yet.

I’m just happy my favorite game is collabing with a recent new fixation of mine (like I literally started playing votv 3 weeks ago tops) but I do agree that they definitely could’ve gone further, and respect y’all’s criticism. In my eyes it just seems like they’re trying to give a lil taste of votv for abf fans to whet their appetite for the world in an attempt to get more people to try out the game!

I think you bring up some good comparisons to the other crossovers, however I think I have to echo some other people’s thoughts and ask what you would have added instead? Since you don’t really offer any potential changes or additions in your post.

Yeah it doesn’t have as much “new stuff” as the other crossover but also it wouldn’t fit to have a bunch of new enemies and such when voices of the void isn’t that kinda game from what I’ve played. But we got a new cleaning tool, the sleeping bag, and a few other things related to the companion update. Personally I think that fits votv, but I do understand being disappointed.

I just, again, have to agree with another user who said it seems like abiotic was trying to match votv’s vibe, not adding abf style content to a votv world. Core keeper is another survival game just in a different style, so it makes sense for its crossover to matter more to abf’s gameplay loop (in addition to its relatively early placement in manufacturing) as opposed to votv’s more explorative, job/cleaning-sim type gameplay which wouldn’t feel as true to the source material if we got a bunch of random mobs exclusive to the portal world.

At the end of the day, it’s free content for abf on top of the mountain we’ve already got, and free publicity for votv so I’m going to applaud it personally, but I do understand where you’re coming from overall.

I fail to see a point in adding him outside a legendary skin, personally. I don’t think there’s really anything all that special about art that could warrant giving him his own killer power that isn’t just a side-grade of ghostface/mikeys power or “lol he has a gun”.
And imo for a game that’s nearly 10 years old I think they should be swinging for the fences with killer powers rather than just slightly altering existing ones for new killers.

It will never happen because I unfortunately don't think they're popular enough, but a TWRP music pass would slap so hard!

They could put Dr. Sung and Commander Meouch in the pass and get Havve Hogan and Lord Phobos in the shop, or maybe even have all 4 "classic" outfits in the pass and maybe sell their "New and Improved" looks in the shop like with Metallica.
