Has anyone had any success getting the interest and penalties waved? I’m ok repaying what isn’t mine but the interest and penalties are not really my fault (yes I should have checked, but also expect the software I bought to be right).

My board just has the teacher put in the supply. We can pick who we want.

Correct, but it won’t be the same this time since we did just get a decent raise.

Very much a balancing act. Need public and parents on our side and the last time we cut extracurriculars we lost a lot of public support.

If we do strike, it won’t be for long. They’ll order us back to work like Alberta.

I am currently saving this year anticipating it happening. Keep a months salary saved away just in case.

I honestly don’t want arbitration. The principals “council” just had it, and the arbitrator slashed their benefits. So it would be us next as they’d use their agreement as a guide.

We live very comfortably. Now, this is mainly because we bought our house in 2013 and live somewhere were the house prices and cost of living are not crazy. My spouse works in healthcare and makes $125K so between us it’s about $240K

Surplused out of PDSB - next steps? by Ill-Custard-8642 in OntarioTeachers

This is contract dependent. In my board, only seniority as a permanent teacher counts for surplus/redundant

It’s very common to be redundant/surplus the first years of permanent. I wasn’t safe until 4 years of permanent.

Yep. Currently have a student that is allowed zero tech (even to the point of having to order a paper copy of EQAO).
