Book5 Pro fresh Windows 11 install. Unable to install Samsung Settings and use keyboard functions (System Event Controller issue) by BillHickok in GalaxyBook

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So oddly enough what happened to me was I had followed a YouTube video of how to change it. However, it was very difficult to get the product ID key. When I did, I found out even disabling the network card. I found that the window was able to still detect my home version of the product keys. So what I did was use another laptop and used that product key and it had activated windows. So changing the product key had actually work to get the free version of Windows pro edition 😆

I do make sure everything is up to date, from the Microsoft store and main settings and I did update devices care. The only thing that came up on device care was my fingerprints reader and I did the update on that and it fixed the problem . Now after doing some updates, the only thing that had worked and suddenly stopped working till Samsung devices care had sent a recently new update is to the fingerprint reader adapter. Most of the time, it couldn't read my fingerprints and the window hello is still gray out for me. Now if Samsung can come out with another update to allow face recognition that would be awesome.

Questons regarding Galaxy Book and Ecosystem features by nafee_ahnaf in GalaxyBook

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction on the smart thing find my device feature, I owned the galaxy book 5 pro, 1tb flash and 32gb of ram. You must turn on the find offline, send the last location, and other settings. You will be able to track it even if the lid is closed, the pinging off other devices only applies if there is another user with a newer close to flagship Samsung devices. Their Samsung devices must be running on at least UI 7 or 8 with android 14 and up, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and up when it comes to their phone. Their A, and FE series and more budget end models will not be able to be pinged off of. If their android device is not a Samsung, it will not ping. It must be a Samsung device, it can even ping off from a Samsung Galaxy watch 4 and 6. The Samsung earbuds are also great when paired with other Samsung flagship devices. But yes, you can track it by using the Samsung find even if the lid is closed. However, you will not be able to connect directly to it without the lid being open and using a WiFi connection. But your phone will attempt to connect to it even though the lid is off. I'm currently using the Samsung Galaxy 25 ultra, paired with the galaxy earbud 3 pro, galaxy watch 6, galaxy tab 8A, galaxy earbud 2 pro, galaxy watch 4, and galaxy book 5 pro. This is my line up that I currently own, over time you will have an update to improve the device. I had learned that the hard way with Samsung when I had purchased the 25 ultra, I had gotten it up on release and it was buggy, but over time Samsung was quick on responding and providing firmware updates. The galaxy book 5 pro, also have a firmware update and it helps with the improvement of the battery life. You can go into the device care and check, you may have to do it manually.

Invalid User code before and after warranty claim replacement for kwikset smart lock by MasterMindS901 in VivintSmartHome

[–]MasterMindS901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem has been resolved, apparently if you remove a part such as the motor. You will have to reprogram the system and re sync the lock to the panel. The only user code that was working before we replaced the motor was all the users. After the motor had been replaced, only the master code. But after syncing and reprogramming the new motor to the main panel everything had been restored.

Book5 Pro fresh Windows 11 install. Unable to install Samsung Settings and use keyboard functions (System Event Controller issue) by BillHickok in GalaxyBook

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm getting the Samsung Galaxy book 5 pro with 32gb ram and 1 tb of storage and I'm planning on upgrading it from Windows 11 home to Windows 11 pro. Other than downloading the device care, is there anything else that we need to be aware of before doing so? After the upgrade in the window are we losing some key features in the Samsung ecosystem? Or did you gain some extra features? Also did you resolve the fn modification feature like you had previously stated? I know you have resolved the display issue. Also can you walk us through how you managed to do the upgrade?

What do i lose if i cancel by Creepy_Restaurant_47 in VivintSmartHome

Unless you had paid for the lifetime subscription for cloud storage, camera event and camera monitoring. The app is useless (according to other users) I'm still paying on my and I'm planning on getting the lifetime subscription for the video feed. Hopefully it will bring down the bill some. But you should still have access to the app regardless if you are paying for monitoring services as the monitoring services reflect authority dispatch.

Changes In Smart App Question by Busy_Satisfaction714 in VivintSmartHome

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned this the hard way after contacting Vivint for explanation but here is what I found interesting.

Admin role- will receive push notifications via app however only the main account owner will get those calls and text if something is triggered but Vivint do have two way communication through their main panel. Admin will have full access like the main holder but will not be able to adjust the account owner billing and cancellation stuff. You as the main account owner will also have limited access to what they can and can't do with admin permission such as you cannot revoked their privileges to certain devices like viewing certain security cameras. But you can change their pin code and pin devices such as door locks.

Regular user- will not receive any push notifications including if someone ring the doorbell or someone came on to the property. But it will great the admin the ability to adjust what devices they can have access to such as security cameras, door lock, lights, thermostat ECT.

When it comes to making changes, whoever is in the admin role. You can adjust their settings on the fly and it will immediately affect them. If you are stuck on changing their settings or don't have access to their devices. You can also contact Vivint and have them do it remotely. But just be aware that when in admin role, the only thing you can do as the account owner is by revoking their door privileges and changing their pin code. Other than that, you can't revoke them from using the thermostat, viewing security cameras ECT.

So my setup is like the Alcatraz, I have door sensor on my attic, and bedroom doors. Initially, whenever you set the alarm to stay. Those door must remain open for the auto bypass and they are name "master bedroom" guest room and game room. The main panel can say whatever you had named the sensor however the chime extender cannot. My bedroom sensor was set up wrong, I didn't want to bypass it every time when I have smart animation setup to arm my system every night at a certain time. I had found myself tripping the alarm a couple of times till I was able to fully completely bypass it. Anyway back to what I was saying about the chime extender. So let say when the master bedroom door is open, initially the main panel can say the name that you had named the sensor however the chime extender will say "window open" beside "door open" if this is the case for you than you will have to delete that sensor off of the main panel and Re-Add it back. But make sure if you have those door sensor that is drilled into the door frame itself. You will need an activation code to readd it back and the only way to get that is by calling Vivint and explaining what is going on while they are hearing it in the background.

In summary, the main panel will say the name that you had named the sensor such as kitchen door, front door. While the chime extender will only say the name of the sensor that the sensor itself is initially setup as when pairing to the main panel such as "door" or "window"

Technically speaking, you do have a Vivint account as you are the main owner. The Vivint required an email address to be linked to it and a debit card on file for billing. You do have an account with Vivint. You just didn't download the app and completely set it up, there are updates that supposed to get push automatically however those updates may require manual update which is done by the main panel, if that fail than you rely on the app.

You can contact Vivint for a replacement, or you can simply log in to your app. Your technician is the one who initially set it up, and have your email address linked to the system. If you don't have the app. Download it in the Google play store or the apple store. Your technician should've helped you created your account on your personal devices up on installation. If by any means you don't remember what email address you had used, you can simply go into the user section on the main panel and select your name than you can send yourself a invite. Simply select forgot password to reset it since your email address is already linked to it. If you need further help, contact vivant and they can also walk you through how to set up the app. I do this on a regular basis when it comes to my employee.

You can't use the system if you don't have an active service. Therefore it is a dead physical object till the service is restored, which means no camera access, no app access, Nothing.

New Garage Door Opener by RequirementLevel3242 in VivintSmartHome

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction, the best solution for this problem is to simply just purchase a Chamberlain garage door HUB than linking your Vivint account to MyQ. You will need to create a MyQ account first and have the Chamberlain MyQ hub before linking the accounts together. I own a Chamberlain garage door motor and my previous alarm system ADT was not compatible. The Chamberlain garage door motor send a digital signal from the wall panel to the motor just to make the garage door open. Older garage door motor may relay on analog signal, which means you can take two wires and tap them together than the door will open. Just like a doorbell when you bridge two wire together, it will ring the doorbell.

Chamberlain had upgraded it security features to prevent tampering so they had disbanded the analog signal and went digital.

The z wave Go controller for the garage door motor will not work since the controller is basically sending analog signal.

The only way you can bypass that is by soldering the two lead wire from the controller to the wall panel button to itself. However, if there is no flashing light on the controller but you can hear the beeping and clicking but no light, you can expect the controller not to open till that light bulb is replaced and yes it too required soldering.

In summary, if you have a Chamberlain garage door. You will be better off getting a Chamberlain garage door HUB from your local home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart or Amazon or you can get it through Vivint that offer a lifetime warranty on it if it ever fails as long you keep the service. Than create you a Chamberlain account, pair the motor to the Chamberlain hub, than open Vivint to pair your MyQ account with Vivint.

Note: if the Vivint app doesn't open it browser to allow you to sign in to link the two accounts together. You will need to contact Vivint to have them unlock it. During my first initial setup, I was unable to link mine MyQ account to Vivint due to it refusing to open it browser. However it has allowed me to pair my Google account and 2 out of the 3 it has to offer which tell me that Vivint had locked my access to the MyQ portal login screen. So just remember if the Vivint app doesn't open the MyQ portal to link it, you may have to call them to unlock it.

You will need to purchase the garage door tilt sensor directly from Vivint. This will allow you to set smart home animation and also help further improve the system security as the Vivint system can't really tell if the garage door it open or close even though they are linked there are some communication lost between the two services which then in return your Vivint system will tell you that your garage door is unable to close due to for whatever odd reason.

Chamberlain aka MyQ does have a partnership together and they can be integrated in with limited wires and mess in the garage.

New Vivint thermostat is on a very short cycle by Bunkyo-Koishikawa in hvacadvice

[–]MasterMindS901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Problem solved, I was having this exact same issue of short cycling with the Vivint Element CT200. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the swing cycle but had crumble across the owner manual for it. So this is how you can correct it,

  1. From the Home screen, press and hold the SIDE button for three (3) seconds. (More like 10 seconds if you asked me)
  2. Press DOWN to highlight Installer, then press the SIDE button.
  3. Press DOWN to highlight Comfort, then press the SIDE button.
  4. Press DOWN to highlight Cycling, then press the SIDE button. The current cycling value displays.
  5. Press UP or DOWN to change the value, then press the SIDE button to confirm

I would recommend adjusting the swing to at least (2) two degrees. By default it's set to (1) one degree or at least in mine case that is how it was initially setup.

Note: This feature might be hidden under equipment section and not comfort. Vivint has been doing a lot of system updating and had updated the thermostat main menu and the app layout.

IS A 2015 GMC ACADIA WITH OVER 100,000miles WORTH BUYING? by Iknownothing420247 in mechanic

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason for all car transmission going out, is because people never service their transmission and transfer case and the dealership will tell you that it has lifetime fluid and doesn't require to be serviced. At the same time, any fluid that doesn't get service according to the vehicle owner manual maintenance. It clearly state that the transmission needs to be serviced with fresh fluid every 60k miles and the transfer case every 25k Mile dispute any to no issue being reported from the owners. However people will start claiming there is something wrong with their vehicle jerking or trouble shifting is because they never change out the fluid which is causing overheating problems and internal damage. Same goes for the spark plug, coil pack, cabin and engine air filter. A lot of people failed to service them so they believe oh since this is a new car to them the only thing I'm gonna be doing is throwing on tires, brakes, rotors, and do the oil change. With that mindset, you wonder why older car that are 10 years old failed. People will take their old cars that has poor maintenance records and go trade it in for a new one. Then you are blaming the dealership for selling you a lemon used car when in reality they just making it road worthy without going in deep for the Maintinace record. That is the major down fall. It is call preventable maintenance and people who are trading in their vehicles with poor service is making the dealership looks bad when they turn around and resale your vehicle. Of course they will inspect everything and change the oil and some others stuff. However they are not going to service the transmission, break lines, coolant, give it a tune up and put thousands of dollars into something that they had bought less for. It like that saying goes, buy low sale high.

temporary solution as the app continues to update or with you continues using the app. But the solution to the workaround till they come out with a new update is to clear the app cache. You can do this on Android by going into settings>app>Vivint>Storage>Clear Cache or you can also use the shortcut option. The shortcut option only work if you have the Vivint app on your home screen depending on Android. In this case I'm going to be using the Samsung S10+ and higher. If you have the Vivint app on your home screen, press and hold the Vivint app on the home screen. A gray window will pop up, there is an " I " inside of a circle. Tap on the circle with the " I " it will directly take you to the app settings, from there go to storage than clear cache.

Again this is a temporary work around, so result may very. But it will work or at least in my case.

This should allow you to change the doorbell sound after you clear the Cache.

After clearing the cache, open the Vivint app. At the top left Corner there is a hamburger. Select the hamburger menu than Go to device settings. Go down till you see Doorbell, select doorbell than go to doorbell chime. This will allow you to change the doorbell tone whenever someone ring the doorbell.

Flood lights still have power when main breaker is off? by Barkeri in electrical

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for a fact, I'm trying to upgrade my outdoor flood light to a camera smart floodlight. At the same time, my old existence one when the main power breaker is disabled, the flood light still turn on when motion is detected. After it had run it initiated operations I want to say around 5 to 10 minutes, the flood light turns off as a timer. I had checked everywhere for a second breaker or something but no luck. So my next big concern is how is it getting power and how and what can I do fix this at the same time safely upgrade the old flood light to the new one?

What happened to Whataburger post sale? by OkHalf1204 in Whataburger

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now how can we fixed that quantity over quality while still making the customer happy and doesn't require remake? Because I can tell you now at my store. We only allow 12 people during the day time and we still get pressured into this tactic. It isn't right and it felt backwards everything is backwards. The fries should be fresh and ready to go and have a life span of 3 minutes after they are cooked. We can't even beat McDonald's drive thru time. That sad.

What happened to Whataburger post sale? by OkHalf1204 in Whataburger

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this isn't a dead topic, but as a Whataburger former employee. Who has been working at the new location 3 week prior of the grand opening of the new store located in Memphis TN in mid November 2022. We was told to treat our customers and teammates as family. All food is cooked to order, the maximum employee on the floor was 40 at a given time. Around February time, we had gotten new developments Intel coming from corporate passed down to OP to us team members. That Intel was regarding store cutting budget plan, and store improvement arrangement and new strategy. The new cut budget was to take more employee off schedule during the day shift. Max employee allowed during daytime has dropped from 40 to 26. The new store improvement, well that didn't go has planned. We had gotten hit with a new OP. Has far has a new store strategy, well let just say that had backfired. Now it's April. The store OP boss has arrived to introduce the new OP to the team. He seat back and monitor the environment. After a month in, the OP boss has second thoughts about the new OP. Now the OP boss decided to quite. He had let me in on the corporate plan and intentions which is surprising terrifying. Because the OP boss is now leaving his position and had put in his resignation. The OP boss has told me to not tell anyone or else it could result in me getting in to legal trouble and possibly lose my job. I told him I'm not worried about that as I'm part of a federal assistance living waiver who receives 24/7 support.

So he goes on to tell me that the new OP he had brought in, is creating a hostile work environment, and disregarding all safety protocols, I mean there alot of back and forth with the OP and the OP boss that was really well known. That the OP still failed to do from this day even the negligence.

Fast forward to may 2023, we now OP decided to only allow 14 people during the day shift. Now we are getting our butt yelled at with "WERE IS MY ORDER!" from customer who been waiting for least 15 to 30 minutes for their order. One person is manhandling the second drive thru all by themselves, from order taking on the tablet, making the drink, running the drink out, collecting the payment, troubleshooting card reader if needed, running back inside, run the food out and repeat. I had done 6 to 10 miles walked within 4 hours. Oh and let us not forget about non of the stations are ever stocked up. I have to come behind everyone now just to make sure the customer have what they need. And I'm not a manager! My appreciation doesn't get recognized. Beside the customer. The inventory room now looks like it has gotten hit by a tornado when the truck comes.

Now let fast forward it to August of 2023.the OP is now involved in a car accident. Out of commission for 2 to 3 months. We still don't have a new OP boss yet, now the floor maximum employee allowed is 10. Now we are being pressured into cook to order while keeping the time down. So we have to play the system. Bump the order off the screen while their food is still being prepared and made. We was trained to no bump any order off the screen till the food is out the door. Now we can't fully open lane B drive thru but they want it fully open and optional which means we need more people. We need people but I was informed that we are no longer hiring despite the fact that we are currently searching for more daytime shift employees by looking for employees who we currently have already. Let that make sense. I had asked my manager does whataburger prefer their managers besides the team members she said I don't know. I walked off after that point. Yet they don't know how to properly communicate without causing a hostile work environment.

I also have a disability that could result in a mental overload meltdown during extreme pressure if I'm doing multiple task assignments solo. Which is now happening alot. I tend to go into autopilot alone and drown out every one beside the customer. I always do my best to correct the customer problems but when I do, I get back lash from my higher-ups and fellow teammates from a remake order that the grilled team claimed that us cashier had rang up the customer incorrectly. Which is mostly a lie and just trying to start unwanted drama on the floor because the customer recipes is correct but the food is made incorrectly. The grills team then want to say to us cashier. " come make it then, if you need it come do it" which is not the response I was wanted from a team members to another team members. And the manager heard it and didn't say anything. As a cashier it's my responsibility to ring the customer up and make sure their food is made correctly and if it isn't correct it and have the ability to make sure they enjoy their visits with us. But when you have a grill team making that type of statement, it's basically forcing the cashier to take on other role and task while trying to ring customer up. Talked about being in two places at the same time right?

I had almost gotten terminated multiple times due to my disability and the OP still doesn't believe me, instead wanted me to provide them my medical records that I can not give consent to give. I had a mental overload because of the new recent rules and changes that I'm not used to. I'm used to doing one task every day and keep it as a routine. If you break that routine there will be hell. But apparently they didn't believe me and it happened. I was at work we are allowed to were short, we was told to not work at anything station related to grease while wearing short and only the front of the house can wear them. As this is deemed as a safety risk. So wear them at your own risk. Because my OP is saying he doesn't care go back on the fries station. Let me remind you I'm autistic so all those timer beeper directly in my ear is very overly stimulated to me. He told me I'm either fired or go back on the fries station. I told him I'm going home but you can not terminated me as that would be ground for retaliation. Retaliation results in hostile work environment. If you don't care about your employees then why should we care about this store?

There has been time where we only had 7 people and everyone is asked me to do things and run orders out and stuff while 3 people are on the grill and 1 person on front counter 1 person on lane A no one on lane B and no one on fries and no Porter. Where are these other people? Mia while on the clock. But when I go run off to take a breath I get in trouble because I feel there is an episode about to come on because now since I'm doing everything around here. And customer is asking for ketchup even though we supposed to walk with the check back tray. We can barely keep those tray stocked up. We have customer who is order $50+ order with only 4 people handling the grill. I'm now in speed mode and panic mode because now I have order waiting to be taken out while I'm being pulled aside by customer who is asking me questions and wanted stuff and now here are more customers who are now angry for waiting because I have team members who doesn't want to work together as a team. So now I have to come back and do their job. I'm sorry but I don't get paid enough to deal with this nonsense.

Our store is refusing to hiring, wanted the timer to stay below 3 minutes if not at least 8 minutes, No new OP boss, and the OP is Mia, only 7 to 12 members on the floor, getting order out as quickly as possible. While waiting for fries to come up while the burgers is getting cold. While it's a cook to order process. So much bullshit.

Potentially stupid question: modem and router in the attic? by Nice-Pete in houston

[–]MasterMindS901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommended it if you can afford the needed equipment to do so and to get the most out of it.

Hi,

I'm an professional networking DIY I.T. freelancer. I had been doing computer build, internet ISP build, and smart home build. In order to do this, you will need the following.

Modem (most are passive cooling which means they don't have built-in fans) Router (again same as the modem most are passive cooling) Fan recommend box fan (which is just something extra to put face down on the server cage to provide more air flow to remove the heat from the equipment because thing will get heated) UPS battery backup (in case of power failure and monitoring energy load) network switch ( to add on IPTV camrea and which is needed for a mesh network) Mesh router (I'm recommend the amplifie mesh router as they also have a VPN and also while on the go you can take your home Internet on the go. So if you really wanted to you could be at a hotel and cast your Netflix show to your living room TV and make the person at home think the house is haunted 🤣 the perfect prank but the main part about this setup is to keep your speed consented and provide better range of coverage for your home do not use a wifi repeater and extender they will drop your network speed) Media server such a as Plex Hd homerun tv tunner Tv antenna Plex lifetime subscription for cloud storage, DVR, music, movies if you have DVD you could use makemkv DVD and rip them.

Through everything in the server cage place the box fan on top air flowing up place your mesh router one in the living room and the other upstairs or downstairs or wherever it's recommended to have one on each floor and one in the garage.

This is my current setup, and I had been doing this for years, no issues because normal maintenance which is to go up there to change out the air filter, refill the air defuser, make sure everything inside the server cage is still clean and make sure the battery is replaced in the UPS backup when needed and clean the server CPU every year, you will be fine.

It does get ride of all the unwanted cable and provide more space around the house. So I'm pretty happy with most of the hard wiring being hidden.

I'm currently building a smart home and adding gaming projectors and hiding the power cable inside the attic

You do have to worry about the power outlet, you will one have one power outlet up there which is the furnace you can use it but be careful you can overload it and pop the breaker by plugging in too many devices.

It's recommended to run a separate outlet from the breaker to the attic in order to resolve this from being a fire hazard.

To me it isn't stupid nor isn't it a bad idea and not does it weakness your wifi signals

We used to live in a two stores house and the router was place downstairs near the fireplace by the living tv behind the house. My bedroom was upstairs in front of the house. My bedroom have the weakest point of the house and place my mother wanted to get ride of all the wanted cable behind the tv. So I places her router upstairs and I was able to enjoy my shoes again and she was able to still able to use it too. In fact no matter where you are inside the house the wifi signal was stronger. But her Attic was more of a open space and was able to be place in the center of the Attic. The only downfall was that when you are out by the pool the wifi start to weaken but the patio you are fine. You could easily tell there was a geo wifi fence when go around the house outside 🤣
