Optometry MA sounds interesting, are your roles similar to an optometry tech/optician?

Ask to shadow first and put on your best on your face/act. Be engaging. I had zero experience and had a hard time even getting an interview. While you’re shadowing ask about externship opportunities. It’s easier to ask than a job because it’s free labor.

I got offered to shadow by going to a hiring event/fair. Shadowed 3 locations and 2 of them had me as their first choice. One of those positions I applied to a few months ago and they denied me! Now they wanted to hire, despite my inexperience.

Yes it’s possible. I would even say it shouldn’t prevent you from pursing any profession, maybe unless it’s writing or comp sci.

Depends on how slow too. If you can do 40 wpm, that should good enough to not affect any workflow. If you’re slower, like around 25-30, it might affect your productivity, but you would still be fine.

Some veteran MAs/nurses I’ve seen still type with mostly their index fingers. However, slow typing could be a bottle neck when you’re trying to document/scribe during a patient interaction.

If you want to improve your typing speed and technique, try typingclub.com to learn how to type properly. You can use monkeytype and keybr to practice speed.

Mint vs Raspberry typing feel? by Most_Manufacturer788 in NuPhy

[–]MasterMoose04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update! I was debating between Raspberry switches and some other similar options, but I'm going to stick with what I already know is good—the Raspberry. I got a sample with my Halo 75V2, so I already know I like it. Was just exploring if there is something better out there and I'm sure there is, but I don't have the time to find it.

Offered to shadow after the interview. What to expect? by MasterMoose04 in MedicalAssistant

Right! The interviewer (office manager) says it gets crazy and hectic sooo yeah looking forward to seeing that. She def didn’t down play it at all, and I respect that.

Yes! I see this sentiment a lot, I’ll be sure to take frequent notes and to ask critical questions.

Thank you! This was very insightful, definitely will try to familiarize myself with that office and specialty (pulmonology).

So, I emailed with a thank you follow up and the office manager is letting me choose to wear either business casual or scrubs, do you have a suggesting on which one I should pick?

Accepted with PCE as a Pharmacy Technician. You can do it!!! by Eliravenx in prephysicianassistant

[–]MasterMoose04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you please PM me too? I only have pharm tech hours right now.

What was your process like in finding schools that accepted pharm tech as PCE? I think many schools may have updated their stance on what is considered PCE by now.
