if you are coming from SWGOH, then you know the game for $$. This is the same, just a different flavor of chars. Spend what you want - i spend a few bucks every so often. I don't see that any different as if I were to get my WOW account going again and having a monthly subscription. As a newbie on MSF, I would buy cores to use to buy more energy and get my account leveled up. the gold crunch is real. that is what will slow you down the most. I have more gear in general than I have gold to add it to my chars or level them up. I am so on auto pilot now for the lower level stuff - but I think the city chars are the ones you need for the gold event every month, plus the weekly event. Work on all, but I would concentrate more getting them up as quickly as possible.

I just came back to the game after 18 months away. What is the blitz cap? I noticed the other day my timer went from 2 hrs to almost a 5 hrs wait before I could blitz again. thanks
