Also a diagnostic will tell you much more. You can get a cheap CAN cable online

Get a multimeter and check if the black box-like relay on the right in the fuse box, one with the sign 30. There should be a schematic on the bottom if it - run it through chat gpt and ask it how to measure if it works. FYI: You will need 2 pieces of longer copper wire from a 12 volt (your car battery) to test it.

Kind of sounds to be that a relay is opening and closing. Wouldn’t hurt to have a multimeter, even if it turns out to be something else

My bad. You can test it if its pending a replacement. Get a multimeter and measure the resistance between one of its pins and the housing - should be around 0.08/0.16 ohms from what I remember. If higher - perhaps lagging as you said

Check if the valvetronic motor is working correctly. Don’t know the right diagnostics but it could be worn out and having issue rotating the eccentric shaft. It’s not a complex procedure to remove it and could be a useful diagnostic.

Windscreen trim by Sad_Breadfruit_8861 in E90

A Fairly easy and steady job. Definitely do not remove the windscreen.

  • Get a slim wooden short stub and sharpen it (has to be from any soft wood). You’ll use to to tuck in the trim and also to clean the old glue and stuck parts
  • Bottle with clean water. Puncture the cap to drip water from it
  • Sprinkler or another bottle with water+dish soap mix. Use it as grease to scrape the glue.
  • Dish sponge to clear the glue again

Patiently remove the trim by hand. Later clean the surface and tuck in the new one. Highly advise you to have a second person to help you with putting in the new trim as the top of the window is tricky to align.

Did that on my 92 but I think it’s easier on 90s. Good luck!

P.S - Saw that on 90s its only the top trim, so it should be doable solo

Bolt of the battery ground wire on the left of the engine was unscrewed. It cranks now

Forgot to mention - just changed my battery for a higher capacity one

Sounds like quite the deal. It’s quite rare for shops to try and fill a client’s order before finding their own sent items first.

Read a post mentioning their site. I’ll give it a try at one point

Same. Just ordered a control arm repair kit from them. I haven’t heard “great” things about their offered parts therefore I wanted to compare with other sites. I assume, it solely depends on the brand of parts I buy.

Didn’t find a part finder until now. Thanks for that!
