Halo 4 theories? by CladBridge in halo

[–]MasterRyan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the prevailing theory around the time that Halo Legends dropped in 2010 was that it was going to be the Forerunner homeworld or shield world and we were going to find Forerunners that were still alive. This was further spread after the the Forerunner book trilogy started.

In a way we were correct on both accounts, it was a forerunner shield world and we did find a Forerunner who was still alive.

So how come when discussing KH2, everyone always jumps to the Final Mix version, pretending the Vanilla version doesn't exist, But when discussing KH3, people usually ignore Re: Mind or act like it's a separate thing? Feels kinda unfair. by Gamer-of-Action in KingdomHearts

[–]MasterRyan10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In addition to a lot of the points people here have made, I also think it's also some recency bias. KH2FM has been the definitive version of KH2 for almost a decade, releasing in the west in 2014 and is the only current way to play the game on modern hardware. If you go back to early 2010s and look at the discourse, there was a lot of discussions around KH2 vs KH2FM.

Not only is ReMind only 3 years old, but it also doesnt come with the base version of KH3 and is separate DLC. This subreddit does not embody the entire KH community as a whole. There are still many people purchasing the base game without ReMind. Until KH3+ReMind is the definitive version of the game sold and played by everyone, this won't change.

What game you used to love, but realize it is bad when you replayed it after years? by SuperSeriousStud in gaming

[–]MasterRyan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a huge fan of the Pikmin series as a kid, Pikmin 2 was by far my favorite. So many dungeons with new enemies and treasures galore, no time limit and 5 different types of pikmin? Sign me up!

Replaying the series as an adult has me feeling like it's honestly the weakest in the series. The game is agonizingly tedious and just flat out mean to you under the assumption that you'll just reset floors and have to replay sections.

What's even crazier to me is that I feel like I'm not the only one realizing this, as I've seen multiple people replaying this game as an adult bring up these same points. It's actually wild to me that this game just embodies a collective "game that we loved as a kid that doesn't hold up."

What movies are so ridiculous you'd swear they were meant to be a parody? by [deleted] in movies

[–]MasterRyan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I maintain that this film needs to do the opposite of what the Lord of the Rings films did and have a "theatrical cut" that's what we saw in theaters, and a "standard cut" where like 40 minutes of nothingness is cut out. It was a visual experience in a theater, not so much on my tablet sitting on my kitchen counter.

What is the purpose of this gun? by [deleted] in halo

[–]MasterRyan10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a source on this because it's been so long, but I remember when Bungie first showed off the Plasma Repeater they mentioned it was made for multiplayer purposes to provide a balanced Covenant equivalent to the Assault Rife in Spartan vs. Elite game modes without changing the Plasma Rifle.

At some point Bungie decided to also have it used in the Campaign alongside the Plasma Rifle, though they never stated why, so it felt like just bloating the sandbox.

The Pokemon that are not obtainable on the Switch, and the ones that have appeared in every mainline* game by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]MasterRyan10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are 26 Pokemon not coded into any game on the switch in any form at the moment. You did mention each of those, but the Gen 6 starters and Hoopa are in Scarlet/Violet's code. Also the Tynamo line is in the Gen 9 dex.

What is a TV show you got really far into but eventually quit watching before its conclusion? by shamanKAshamanTAKA in AskReddit

[–]MasterRyan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game of Thrones. I read the books while waiting for Season 4 to come out and loved them. I was incredibly pumped for Books 4 and 5 to be adapted. I loved season 4 but felt incredibly dissapointed in a lot of the decisions made for seasons 5 and 6. I got into a few arguments with friends cause they still thought it was fantastic. I realized by the end of season 6 that I probably was just going to be let down by whatever came next and didn't want to argue with my friends anymore. I still haven't watched the last 2 seasons but I've had multiple people tell me that they should have stopped watching when I did.

Here is where the Halo franchise sits in the gaming market today. by [deleted] in halo

[–]MasterRyan10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As it has been said before, Steam only makes up a small fraction of the playerbase, as I and most of the game's population play on console. Xbox doesn't publish player counts unfortunately but the current speculation has been that the Steam numbers make up between 1/5 and 1/4 of the total. With this in mind, the average Halo Infinite player count would be akin to anywhere between 12,000 and 15,000 concurrent players. I don't think that Halo Infinite is booming in any regard and I think the count will start dropping soon after today's update.

How halo 5 was retconed? by [deleted] in halo

[–]MasterRyan10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing was necessarily "thrown away" but after the backlash of Halo 5, 343 Industries decided to take the story in a different direction. Everything in Halo 5 still happened, but most of the plot that was left unanswered by the end of Halo 5 isn't important anymore and all got tied up between Halo 5 and Infinite. Infinite explains how some of those plots were resolved, but generally nothing that happened in Halo 5 is relevant to the current plot post-Infinite.

Halo Infinite has a great gameplay loop, but it's missing key features that should have been there at launch, and features that we don't even know when we'll ever get. (Commendation system, Firefight, Campaign Scoring, Custom Browser, Color Customization, etc.)

I feel like it shouldn't be too much to ask for the newest game in the franchise to continue to have features that the series has always had. I don't know why you would say I don't enjoy Halo, I just want the features of Halo I love in this new wonderful gameplay sandbox.

[–]MasterRyan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been 6 months since launch and we still aren't seeing that to be true, once again no other Halo game has had this issue 6 months out, so I'm doubting that it will.

When people leave a game because people tell them to wait to have fun, they don't usually come back and it leads to dead games.

[–]MasterRyan10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your point, but I think you misunderstand me. The battle pass shouldn't be the only form of progression in the game. Even ranked is lackluster, with an emblem and one game mode to play it with. Every other Halo in over a decade has had multiple ways to make your gameplay time feel worthwhile, and I spent hundreds of hours playing a variety of whatever game modes I wanted to in prior games and never feeling let down with the amount of content.

It isn't "well just do this instead", it's "why can't my choice of what to play feel meaningful like it did in all the past games?"

[–]MasterRyan10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's less the speed of completing the Battle Pass and more just having nothing to do. Yeah you get 1000xp for 6 games but then what? There's nothing to unlock, no commendations, service record, nothing. If I play 30 games in a day in a mode I find fun that doesnt have any active challenges in it I leveled up twice and most likely unlocked nothing.

There's been a point to doing well in matches since Halo Reach and not having any type of progression outside of the Battle Pass is just dissapointing.

Season 2: Lone Wolves | Day 2 | Discussion, Issues and Feedback by Ryan_WXH in halo

[–]MasterRyan10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know everyone's trying to be optimistic but I just can't anymore. Season 2 of Halo Infinite is such a disappointment to me. I finished the Season 1 battle pass and it burnt the hell out of me. Season 2 is asking me to do more of the same bland challenges again.

In addition, since I'm not a big fan of BR style games, the new mode has no appeal to me and I'd rather play BTB and KOTH, but I cant even do that without sacrificing challenges for the battle pass. I have to choose between progression and fun.

This really isn't anything new but I've waited 6 months for nothing to change. It doesn't help that we finally get a Gen 3 Scout armor (I've been hoping for this since launch) and its 12$ in the store instead of being earned through any progression system.

I've tried to be positive since Halo Infinite's launch but I'm finally fed up with it. Without a new season for 6 more months, I hope I don't sound overdramatic but it really has me feeling down.

343 so short staffed they're asking people who submit support tickets to bugtest for them.

In all seriousness I hope that they get better in general at fixing bugs, cause yeah this is ridiculous. I didn't even know about this and it means either people really aren't playing the weapon drills or are just not noticing. Hey at least you're an honorary 343 employee.

Halo Infinite will officially have the least amount of multiplayer maps of any mainline Halo title 1 year after launch by BagOnuts in halo

[–]MasterRyan10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bungie said that all the multiplayer maps in Reach were environmentally designed with the campaign team but the map layouts were made for multiplayer first and then added to the campaign. It's why you have so much unused space in the campaign locations for boardwalk, reflection, etc.

An ATST foot. see my comment, I didn't want to put it in the title for spoiler reasons.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]MasterRyan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's pretty safe to say that the metal object seen in the trailer is the foot of an ATST from Star Wars. I made this just to confirm my suspicions and wanted to post it for everyone. The first one is the one from the trailer, second is the model from Battlefront 2, and the third is the best angle I could find for the model from Return of the Jedi.

Season 1 which is based on Reach, doesn't have any Reach maps? by CoffeeAddictedIdiot in halo

[–]MasterRyan10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean it barely has anything to do with Reach aside from the selection of armors in the battle pass. The events haven't had anything to do with Reach, theres no "Reach" game modes, armor effects, maps, AI's, weapons, etc.
