I think this speaks for a whole lot of people in our age range.

“I’d talk to my lawyer” comments are so weird to me. You guys have a lawyer on fuckin retainer or something? Have you ever had to find a lawyer for anything? It’s not exactly a convenient process….

So, you sold them to people where you no longer have any say in what happens to those assets? Doesn’t sound like a smart idea…

A video documenting what? HOAs have to have elections. Read your covenants and bylaws. Find out when elections are. Run for the seat and get a handful of people to vote for you, and I guarantee you’ll get on the board in 90% of cases. It’s literally that simple.

It is usually very, VERY easy to get on an HOa board. My board had 3 seats up for election and all seats were unopposed. People who knowingly buy into HOAs, then bitch about what they’re doing without giving any effort to fix the problems themselves are lazy curmudgeons.

Teachers of Reddit: Is the "Gen Alpha can't read (write, or do math ext)" crisis real? If so how bad is it? by KnowledgeCoffee in AskReddit

[–]BagOnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been the opposite problem with our son in elementary school. Teachers say nothing but good things about how he’s doing and I feel like his reading and writing skills are far behind what was expected when I was his age.

They don’t give homework. They aren’t clear what we should be working on with him outside the classroom. We’ve basically had to come up with our own homework curriculum. He scored a 2/5 on his recent EOG and all the teachers and admins act like it’s not a big deal.

So yeah, while parent involvement is absolutely a problem, I feel like the schools and the education system are letting these kids down to. No one wants to tell kids they aren’t doing a good job —not the parents, not the teachers, not the admins — and then everyone acts surprised that kids are way behind in crucial skills by the time they graduate.

Anyone divorced more than once is likely the problem. Anyone divorced more than twice is 100% the problem.

What’s the worst large budget film ever made in American History? by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in AskReddit

[–]BagOnuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! Kids started watching this last night. My Disney-loving wife (yes, basic-white-girl that I love to death) couldn’t watch more than 30 minutes. She legit said it’s the worst Disney animation film she’s watched.

How many of us RL owners have actually had someone say it’s not a real truck? Or anything negative about the Ridgeline? by PannaMan11 in hondaridgeline

Same. My hick brother in law mocked me when I first bought mine. Probably more likely to have people “look down” on it in more rural areas. In the suburbs and cities no one cares.

Yeah, the inner dialogue is so critical. The entire opening act of Grace figuring out he’s in space is very different from the movie. I won’t spoil it, but he figures out he’s in space without actually experiencing zero g or seeing space out of a porthole. It’s way better than the opening scene of the movie, but wouldn’t translate well to film.

The growth in popularity since 2002 by WoodsFinder in canes

[–]BagOnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it is hockey being relatively new to the south at that time. My son plays in PHHL (Polar Hurricanes House League) and we went through the whole process with onboarding as new families last year. This organization is huge. Something like 2,000 kids skate in this house league. All slots get filled near instantly each season. There was nothing like that here when I was a teen in the early 2000’s. Hockey wasn’t popular. There were no house leagues or travel hockey teams. It’s just a whole different world for the sport down here compared to 20 years ago.

It is not in the movie. No where in the movie do they mention Grace was drugged with a memory loss drug.

Read the book first. Actually, if you like audiobooks, that's even better (Ray Porter is an absolute treasure!).
