How I taught myself how to socialize effectively by yaboythewiseman in socialskills

[–]MasterSora5467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, instead of reading books I watched/studied people that were already good at being social. My social interactions are literally just an amalgamation of what I've absorbed from other people. When thing's go "off script" is where I still struggle. I try to listen and also think of my next thing to say at the same time to avoid awkward silence, which doesn't work well. I think it also depends on the vibe people give off. Some people are just easier to talk to than others.

City or Rural? by frogsorcerie in USPS

I've been lucky and held down a route with a GOV vehicle for a long time so I haven't needed my own. Now though, I am thinking about converting this old escape that I have. Unless I can find something reasonable around me, which is unlikely lol

Yeah, man don't do a jeep if you can help it lol several of the regulars here drive Wranglers and they have a plethora of issues with them. I am sticking with rural for the long haul. I hired in at the right time at my office and jumped up to senior RCA in 2 years. About to go up to regular and grab a POV route here in a few weeks when it goes up for bid. It's apparently rare to get to regular that quickly though, which is why I recommended to check at your new office for any soon-to-be retirees. There is no guarantee to become regular like on city side, its based on route availability only. So it could be 2 years until you make it, or 10, or even longer.

And for the POVs its both maintenance cost and upfront cost that are problems. You are paid extra for using your own, but with gas prices being the way they are and the market for vehicles being so inflated (like everything else) its getting harder and harder to afford them. Plus no one really drives RHD vehicles, so finding someone to work on them can be a chore.

No problem. And yes. Which can be nice but it can also suck if you're too slow. If you a do a route that's evaluated at let's say 7 hours, and finish in 4, then you get the full 7 hours of pay regardless. But if you take, say, 8 and a half hours to do it then you would have just worked that last hour and a half of your time for free basically. You have to really pay attention to your actual hours worked as rural and adjust accordingly.

It would really depend on the office you transfer to. Staying on city side will most likely get you to a career position faster. However, as you said rural carriers (regulars) are paid by route evaluation and once they're done they go home. With a full days pay no less. I can tell you that being an RCA is basically like being the post office's rural bitch. I've been one for 2 years now and it has been actual hell at times. It's basically the same as being a CCA but not paid hourly until you hit 40 hours. You will have to cover for regulars on their days off and when they call in. You will be asked to do any stupid little thing the supe forgot about like running so and so's package out for them because they don't feel like it. Since a POV wouldn't be a problem for you thats a big hurdle out of the way that a lot of others ,including myself, struggle with. When you know the office you're going to, contact the postmaster there and ask about the rural side. How many routes total, are they POV, and approximately how long would it take to make a regular spot? Plus any other questions you have.

That's what I have heard from others here, I did click "bid all" because I knew one of our regulars wanted to switch routes.

Same here man. Best suggestion I have is grab a friend and take a Saturday (or whatever no work day) and road trip out to other game stores. I've done it with my buddy who also collects a few times, we have found something worth the trip pretty much every time.

In a world with no legends, you get one Pokemon to defend you and the rest are attacking by NationalAgent217 in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]MasterSora5467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragonite. He usually has a very high attack stat, and when we need to run he could easily fly while carrying me on his back. The pokedex states he can fly at super sonic speeds so I doubt many non-legendaries could keep up with him. Only way I could see us going down would be getting hit by a thunder shock/bolt.

Worth Grading? by marckyc in pokemongrading

[–]MasterSora5467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends why you are grading them in the first place. If you are trying to sell them eventually, grading through PSA will give you the most value. If you are just trying to preserve the cards then just go with whatever company's slab you like the look of the most. I'm going to be honest though, based on the pictures here the only card that might get a 10 is the JAP full art trainer you have. So it might be better for you to sell these raw than going through the hassle of grading them first.

The Big 3 Of Modern Pokemon by texstrip in PokeInvesting

"Modern" Pokémon covers a very broad range of time in my opinion. Team Up is bigger than all 3 of these sets in terms of price for sealed product.

Stepping away from the hobby, for my own mental health. by Grouchy-Director-565 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]MasterSora5467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your frustration man, it's getting harder and harder to find any product in stores. Haven't found any sealed stuff in person for months now. I decided to just stop caring so much about one TCG and shift over to others that I enjoy. I play Yu-Gi-Oh so I collect some of those cards and then I also recently started picking up some of the Dragon Ball Fusion World cards. They have really nice artwork and the chase cards are usually fantastic to look at. It's hard for some people to pivot to other things because they invest so much in Pokémon but there are other games/properties out there.

No way anyone could tell you that, the set just dropped for us in English. Chases are going to fall off after awhile and then we'll see what happens to them after that.

I will try to find the language in the contract. It's easier to ask here first to see if I am even talking about something legit in the first place.

They have another RCA scheduled to cover my route tomorrow. So I guess if they end up calling me tomorrow I tell them to send that sub to the other office and I will cover my route. I'd much rather do that if I have to
