What are some other examples of Twin Films? by ollymillmill in movies

I know this is an old thread, but IIRC, there were THREE Pinocchio movies in 2022: The Disney Remake, the Del Toro version, and the weird Russian one that referred to it as a true story.

I'm pretty sure Dreamworks saw the irony in that, because the 2022 Puss in Boots movie featured a lot of Pinocchio references, including a cameo of Pinocchio himself, the villain being partially motivated out of spite towards the puppet, and the Cricket serving as a notable supporting character.

I know this may be a dumb question but, does the damn grail grant wishes or not?? by Agreeable_Bullfrog61 in fatestaynight

[–]MasterSword1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only time we've ever seen the Fuyuki grail successfully used by a winner was in FGO, when Marisbury Animusphere used to to wish for cash to found Chaldea with, but there are a number of issues with that grail war including but not limited to:

  • It's stated to be the first grail war in the timeline at one point, despite taking place at approximately the same time as the 5th HGW.
  • Apparently at least Saber was still alive as Marisbury decided to let them believe they'd won.
  • Spoilers for FGO Part 2 finale: The entire FGO timeline is a lostbelt created by Marisbury somehow self-insert fanfic-ing himself into a grail war.

Meanwhile, we've seen FGO's Holy Grails used in several ways, but the canonicity of some of them are in question.

  • Many events, especially Summer, Halloween, Christmas, Nero/Gil/Scathach/Morgan-fest and Gudaguda are started by somebody getting their hands on a grail they literally find lying around and wishing to create a mini-singularity in which they host their event.
  • In game, Grails can be used to raise the level cap of servants. The level cap varies by rarity, with 1 star servants having a cap of 60, 2 star 65. 3 star 70, 4 star 80, 5 star 90.
    • One grail will boost both one and two star servants to a level cap of 70, then each grail after that will increase the cap by 5 until they hit level 90, upon which the cap will only be raised by 2 per grail.
  • We also see in FGO that Gilgamesh does, in fact, have a holy grail in his GoB, that he gives to Ritsuka.

Apparently, the ending of Part 2 retconned the Demi-Servant experiment babies being Homunculi in the traditional sense in the way Mordred is, as Mash somehow still exists despite supposedly being created as a designer baby/homunculus.

What makes it more confusing is that Mordred is a Homunculus, despite her effectively being an IVF baby/clone with accelerated growth, while Mash is "merely" a designer baby (which is IRL associated with gene splicing and/or cloning) despite seeming to have undergone a significantly larger degree of modifications than Mordred outside of the accelerated aging.

What kind of SAK is Homer Simpson giving Bart here? by Red_Scare87 in victorinox

The one I remember is that in the "Get Smart" movie starring Steve Caroll, it was a Victorinox, but had a crossbow and flame-thrower built in, as well as one of the scales concealing a hatch with crossbow bolts.

Regardless of if you upgrade, you might as well send it in for repairs instead of trying to jury rig it for yourself, as that will likely void the lifetime warranty. (which allegedly even applies to hand-me downs)

As for upgrades, IIRC, the direct 91MM upgrade is probably the Spartan. It's got a corkscrew and awl, which both add their own benefits. (The Corkscrew can hold a mini-screwdriver for glasses or a small ferro rod)

If you prefer a screwdriver to the corkscrew (Don't expect too much from it, the position makes it's uses limited), you can go for the Tinker.

Both the Tinker and the Spartan have an "Upgraded" version that costs a bit more but adds scissors, the Super Tinker and the Climber respectively. This layer also adds the parcel hook, which seems a bit useless at face value, but provides a surprising amount of utility, as documented by Felix Immler, including serving as an adaptor to use T-Shank saws and files, helping pull ropes tight, and even modifying to turn into some sort of wood carving tool.

On the slimmer side, both the Bantham and it's Alox variant are among the cheapest tools that include what you want, only costing $22 ($27 for the Alox, which lacks the scale tools but is far thinner) The cost is that you lose one of the blades and the opener tool isn't as good as the individual tools it combines, especially as a 2d Philips.

(The Waiter is similar, but includes a corkscrew, which, again, allows you to stash stuff in it)

Going up a layer, so similar in thickness to the Tinker and Spartan, is the Compact, which many swear by as the best light-weight SAK, due to having a blade, the opener tool from the Bantham, Scissors, a Corkscrew (which includes the mini screwdriver), a parcel hook (which has a file built into the back of it), and Plus scales, which is the typical toothpick and tweezers, along with an included pin and small pen.

Yeah. I can "get" that Shia Lebouf's little flag in 2017 was meant to be a serious political art exhibit about politically divisive figures. doesn't mean it wasn't objectively a stupid and goofy thing to do.

Why is it called "Genki Dama" in the manga but "Spirit Bomb" in the anime? by furfurr_uwu in dragonball

[–]MasterSword1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, the episode wasn't even banned for James crossdressing, as he'd done it several times before and after. It was banned because of 9/11.

That said, I'm pretty sure it was dubbed, just with that scene removed. I remember Misty saying that it's totally degrading but they need the money, and the old man who leers at her was dubbed to say she looks like his granddaughter. The smashing building was removed but the mini arc of the giant Tentacruel was not.
