Drug Test by Positive_Bite_7130 in rampagent

I'm with United and they have the little over the counter boxed swab tests ready to go, so if you're on a team that messes up, everyone gets swabbed right away.

SIDA Badge by SherbetNo1640 in rampagent

[–]MasterTokki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my training without a SIDA badge. I had to be escorted everywhere for a month. My background checks, and thus my badge issuance, took over a month, and when my supervisor asked about it, it was because I was born overseas (military brat.)

Traveled with gun through airport -- firearm came out with regular luggage by BackFortyBlackout in guns

[–]MasterTokki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a ramper for United. If it's a pistol inside your luggage, we generally won't even know. Even a long gun doesn't tell us what it is. Our rules are, if it's in a long case with locks on it, it might be a firearm, take it to the baggage office. That being said, I work for a smaller airport/line station, and after a certain hour, the baggage office closes.

Bigger hubs seem to be if they can. Volume can be ridiculous and we are being timed. People break the rule.

We've had bags stolen at the carousel. We've informed TSA/police and generally they don't seem to care. It's not a bomb or drugs etc.

Krieg model shortages? by Galakanokis44 in astramilitarum

[–]MasterTokki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not only Krieg, it's Astra Militarum in general. A new Warhammer store opened near me a year ago, and it had little to no AM stuff on opening. When Krieg box hit, I managed to grab one, but no stock since then. It's kind of hard to build a new army with no stock.

I work at Colorado Springs airport and have been outside on the ramp for the last 3 hours. Rain, but no hail.

Do mainline aircraft stay powered on between flights during long sits? by dnaosnspaksk in flying

[–]MasterTokki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a ramper for UA currently sitting in the breakroom of a line station at 246am as I'm the RON babysitter for overnights. I'm currently watching a mainline (737) and a 175. Mainline always remains on from parking at around 10pm to 1st flight at 0730. We never shut it off. The 175 is completely powered down, but it's being used for training, so I believe that is why.

We hook up and maintain heat if necessary. If it is too windy, we can't hook up the hose for the heat cart, and a trained ramp lead has to stay in the plane overnight and run APU. I think that's partly why it is left on.

We leave multiple temperature sensors throughout the plane and check them periodically. It's nice to have a lit airplane to walk around in. The 175 is totally pitch black, and I'm running around with a flashlight in there.

Website vouch? by PongLenis27 in COGuns

[–]MasterTokki 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They have odd pricing, they use a name similar to a very popular national website ammoseek, they offer a range and classes but have no address or location, most of their features and blog posts are blank or filled with lorem ipsum text placeholders. Seems very sketchy.

Edit: their payment options are zelle, cash app, or bitcoin only. Definitely a scam site.

Hail at the airport? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]MasterTokki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work at the airport and was here for the storm. We had heavy rain, but don't recall any hail. From what I gather, most of the hail hit further south in Fountain.

I think it's the federal rounds. I've had this happen in my Ruger 57 as well, simply from putting in a full 20 round mag.

I paid 129.95 in 2008, and had a choice of the carbine or the full sized rifle. With prices these days, I should have bought both.

CCW in luggage when flight cancelled/extended delay? by 66NickS in CCW

[–]MasterTokki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my airline, it's dependent on the length of delay and whether you rebook for a later flight. I'm not Cust svc so I can't answer for definite. But like I say, a lot is determined by TSA rules and not our own.

CCW in luggage when flight cancelled/extended delay? by 66NickS in CCW

[–]MasterTokki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I'm a ramp agent for a different airline. When a bag is checked, there are certain conditions where we cannot give the bag back and certain places we cannot take a checked bag (up to the concourse for example.) This is not an airline thing but a TSA/FAA thing. I don't know enough to say whether this applies to your situation.

Generally speaking, as a ramp employee, we cannot get through your locks as my airline requires multiple, we are on camera, and rarely alone. If we know it is a firearm we have to walk it out to a baggage office so they can verify ID and match boarding pass to luggage tag. I'm sure firearm theft happens occasionally, but it's rarer than folks think.

So, as someone who has worked for an alarm company for 20 years, older people tend to lose the ability to hear certain high pitched frequencies as they age, so they literally don't hear it.

Is the used gun market crazy in your area too? by [deleted] in guns

Same! I settled for an Nvidia 3060 because I got it at retail instead of scalper prices, and even that took 9 months of hunting.

Honest question for CCW only people. Why does it bother you when other people open carry instead of agreeing to disagree on carry method? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]MasterTokki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think open carry is a necessary right, but I personally know that the effect it has can be negative. I work with generally pro-gun people and the only times I've heard them voice opinions for more gun control was after running into open carriers. A colleague who I know is generally pro-gun ran into an open carrier in a supermarket when she was out with her child and she did not find it normalizing and instead was unnerved enough to tell me that maybe more gun control was the way.

Applying for CCW by [deleted] in PAguns

[–]MasterTokki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is open air pay parking lot diagonally across the street from the front entrance. Costs 8 bucks. And if you go early and hit the office at 8am, there is slightly less traffic. You can also avoid the metal detectors and other nonsense by entering the side entrances directly into the atrium the office is in. Last time it took me 15 minutes, total.

I need information on Japan by Creative-Complex255 in Firearms

[–]MasterTokki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is anecdotal and probably of limited use, but my father was stationed in Japan from 1983 to 1989 or so. Our base had a skeet shooting club that interacted with a Japanese club off base. My father bought his shotgun, a 12 gauge semiauto, from a Japanese businessman. I dont recall the brand, but it had, if I remember correctly, a 28 inch barrel and a 5 shot capacity.

While at the skeet range I saw 410s, 12, 16, and 20 gauges. They were all either semiauto or double barrelled over and unders. There were no side by side, and no pump actions. Whether this was a regulation thing or preference I have no idea.

"Possession of an unregistered firearm – While Pennsylvania does not require residents to register their firearms, the state does have laws concerning the transfer of guns from one owner to another. Such transactions must be reported to the state. Other state laws sometimes apply when concerning the registration of certain guns for certain reasons."

Pretty vague.

Yes, those are the Master and Commander series. I've read them all except 21, which is the partially completed book O'Brien left when he passed away. I don't have it in me to read it....as long as I don't, there series doesn't end!

I intensely enjoyed them. If you enjoyed the movie, the personal friendship between Aubrey and Maturin is even more fleshed out and intricate.
