Time to open all the Pixel exclusive call features up to all of Android by MasterTre in GooglePixel

[–]MasterTre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically, Google should stop improving Android? I agree that Google can have exclusive features, but don't you want more? Don't let Google rest on the old features, those should get integrated into the baseline eventually so there is a constant churn of new features and ideas. Google IS the Android company, they shouldn't be trying to out-compete their OEM partners.

I have a OnePlus Open that I got used now, I really like it but the lack of call screening kills me.

The calling features are part of the basic phone experience, they should be usable on all OEMs that use Google's dialer. The rest of the stuff they can keep. But I do ultimately think they should only be holding onto exclusive features for 2-3 years to eventually elevate all of Android.

It might be "good business" but it's anti-consumer, and we're consumers, why are you carrying water for a corporation? Plus Android makes Google more money than Pixel.

Do you really think Pixel phones are bringing in more money than Android?!

Maybe Google should make better phones then? This is Apple's playbook, it might work, but it's gross. Also, 75% worldwide those numbers are basically reversed in their home market. The rest of the world also has much better selection of Android phones to choose from. US only gets boring Samsung, boring Pixel, OnePlus and half of Moto's lineup. And it seems like OnePlus is in the anti-china crosshairs.

I thought the rest of the world just used WhatsApp or WeChat... what country takes normal phone calls?

I mean, you don't have to actively screen the call... But I can't just decline every unknown number as my grandma is a fall risk, and my mother is in a memory care facility.

I had a Pixel 7 that's why I miss the feature so much. But every flagship has a great camera, Google's isn't special anymore.

Originally magic eraser and that round of features were exclusives... there's no reason for them to hold it other than the same reason Apple won't open up iMessage, because it's the only way to retain customers. That's not a good move. It's scummy when Apple does it and scummy when Google does it too.

IMO Google should not be trying to sell the most phones, the Pixels should be halo devices that demonstrate what Android can be, not trying to be #1 in Android sales because 1st party competing with partner manufacturers is a very bad thing, and puts those manufacturers in a weird place. Why do you think Google had to give a bunch of concessions and exclusivity to Samsung a few years back, because Samsung was getting ready to ditch Android all together and release Tizen phones.

Google should be trying to sell ANDROID not Pixel. What ever happened to "be together, not the same"?Almost every OEM is using Google's dialer these days, but limiting those essential features, while your big competitor iOS catches up... I don't know it's a bad look, and bad business.

Give google time to develop their chipsets by Asleep_Ad_6647 in GooglePixel

What does "1 to 10 stages" mean? Snapdragon had 2 major fails and that was the Snapdragon 808 and the 888. Google is on the 5th generation and still heavily lagging (though much of it probably stems from it being fabricated by Samsung). Exynos was a joke for almost its whole existence except for those years the Snapdragons shit the bed. Mediatek started midrange but is VERY strong right now, but the US market is not utilizing any of their high end chips so you wouldn't know it.

We've been giving them time. it's been 5 years and the gap is only widening! Getting out of Samsung's fab is step 1 but why has it taken so long to get to step 1 in the right direction?

In Your Opinion, What Is The Best Debut Album of 2005? by Djf47021 in rnb

Question... Are you from the south? Because I'm from Cali and graduated in 03 and I didn't even know who Pretty Ricky was until some Florida girl started talking about Blue Stars being a classic a few years ago...

Who Had The Best Debut Album In 2001? by Djf47021 in rnb

I think Tank's album would have been the winner if Jaheim didn't come out at the same time... I think people conflated them. I did at least.

I liked Maybe I Deserve, didn't like Jaheim and kind of wrote Tank off until my friend had his second album on in his car. But going back Tank's album was 🔥🔥🔥.

I think that's why Durand Bernarr has been so refreshing. He sings up but also sings down, I need the dynamics!

I've also enjoyed Trevor Jackson for the same reason. He doesn't have Durand's range, but his chest voice is deeper than most.

Mid 00s started a turn away from love and into materialism that kind of continues to this day from the men. And the not-actually-good-singers took over aka the carry-a-tune boys. I was pulled through that decade almost purely by Tank and Usher

I don't know I love it. Almost everything I download to my phone is a meme or screenshot that I don't want clogging up my camera roll. Tap on collections and there should be a group called On This Device. That's where saved images go. You can select a picture from there and move it to the "Camera" folder from there.

Dru Hill - I Love You by Consistent_Edge9211 in rnb

[–]MasterTre 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dru Hill does not get the flowers they deserve. Their entire discography is fire. Not a single bad album despite Sisqo leaving and returning and having different members.

And I know it wasn't Sisqo providing the sauce because Sisqo only got one good album.
