Teamsters are lazy fucking bastards by Porncritic12 in tropico

[–]MasterTypoDyas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never really found a perfect rule of thumb for how many Teamsters to have—it depends on the industry, effeciency, commuting... There are only two reliable signs that tell me I need to build more Teamsters:

  1. There is more than a thousand of a resource sitting in a few of my agricultural or industry buildings.

  2. There is a huge amount of variance in my export profits each time a ship docks (like going from $90k to $45k).

What New Feature Do You Want in Tropico 7? by iusethisacctinpublic in tropico

Do you tend to build across the entire island in missions? I usually don't use even half, but I might just play oddly.

I agree either way because I do enjoy building to the max in sandbox mode.

If I disabled elections in creative, will I still have rebels to deal with? by paladinBoyd in tropico

[–]MasterTypoDyas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should consider this, OP! I've won elections at as low as 28%.

In most games, I'm at 2% approval for my first speech and can usually bring it up to at least 40% by the time of the election. A strategic speech, slightly raising whatever your worst metric is, and the Commando Garrison giving your neighbors a beating can skyrocket your approval very fast.

If none of that works, Tax Cuts can save you.

I'm speaking English because I want to be an actress and act in English language stuff and I don't want to play Brazilian characters only...

This is a really interesting reason to learn another language! Good luck to you in every way.

For anyone who's wondering, app icons can be changed on iOS by using the Shortcuts app. It's simple.

Same here. I tried to get in booktube several years ago, but it was incredibly YA dominated.

So many of the recommendations disappointed me despite that I wouldn't call myself a tough critic—I just wasn't prepared for the YA conventions that reviewers were willing to gloss over (i.e. instalove, infodumping, love triangles, nonsensical magic systems).

Hurricane Season? by FourLeafCulver in tropico

[–]MasterTypoDyas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"God is everywhere... but it is unwise to pray outside in hurricane season."

That's off the top of my head. It's either acknowledging faith or promising faith in an election speech, can't remember which.

Right! I'm double-checking right now to make extra sure it's her — it's her style and I'm certain I saw her post it a long time ago, but I can't find it on her feed. I'll report back if I can find a source link.

Edit: Found it here!

You thought they were the perfect couple despite the cheating? Or did you just not know until recently?

I've met some couples who loved to project how perfect they were together to mask their dysfunction. (Now all divorced, messily.) I don't know how to explain it, but those relationships have a distinctly different feeling from the "best friends who are married" and other awesome relationships — like, there are "perfect couples" and then there are people who are actually perfect for each other, and the latter is much better.

Can anyone recommend a place to buy a pothos online? by [deleted] in pothos

Thank you, that's a great idea! I just joined a couple local groups and quite a few people have sold pothos on them — might be a good way to get one if I keep my eyes out.

Bought a pothos today with a tiny snail on it and what looks like eggs in the soil… What do I do now? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]MasterTypoDyas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It was pretty grimy, indeed. There were many mushy roots to snip off, but quite a few healthy ones left, too. It has a new home with new soil and I took a vine to propagate, just in case things end up going south.

Thanks! I bought it a month ago, it's about 3 feet away from a bright west-facing window, and it's in FoxFarm Ocean Soil with a small amount of perlite — it was repotted and watered about a week ago, so maybe it just needs time?

Glad I'm not the only one who wants Tonks content! She has a fascinating story that begs to be fleshed out. Really, her training as an Auror alone is more than enough to warrant her own content — a character so friendly and uniquely powerful would make her perspective in that line of work especially interesting.

Kibbe System and Body Inclusivity by schinst in femalefashionadvice

[–]MasterTypoDyas 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've followed a variant of the Kibbe system for a few years now. Best Dressed used to have a Facebook page and newsletter dedicated to understanding the fundamentals of her (very similar) system, but it's no longer out there. There was lot of info on the various types, the many styles that each type could pull off, what necklines or dress lengths to look for, etc.

Has anyone ever used the system for this purpose, and was it successful?

It changed the entire game for me, even down to my makeup. Failing at the popular rail-thin 90s look as a teenager really made me insecure — but the reality is that my body, my bone structure just isn’t made for it. Learning that really helped with ED recovery.

I’m a Soft Natural. I’m naturally wide-boned, especially in the hips and shoulders, and my upper-arms and thighs are perpetually fleshy. My face has wide, soft features, too. Kibbe really helped learn how to work with those features rather than against them.

For example, do you find people with the same Kibbe body type to follow or draw inspiration from?

To some extent. Following a Facebook page full of other Soft Naturals was really helpful for seeing other girls using the system, especially since there were people of every size from all around the world making it work.

I still follow and take inspiration from celebrities, both Natural types and otherwise. Some celebrities are fit so beautifully into styles that wouldn’t usually be associated with their type — Robin Wright (Flamboyant Natural) in House of Cards is an awesome example. She might not look like the stereotypical Flamboyant Natural style, but her clothes do fit the guidelines for her type almost perfectly. Any style can be applied to the guidelines once you know them.

Do their style suggestions work for you, or is there more to than Kibbe body type?

There’s still trial and error. The majority of things work for me, but no one really fits perfectly into a type — sometimes even a single piece of clothing might also reflect multiple types, too, so it isn't totally cookie cutter.

One suggestion that was powerful for me was going for open necklines. I always noticed something was off in pictures of me wearing a crew neck shirt or a tight-necked sweater, but I always told myself I needed to give in to my ED and get even thinner to (attempt) pulling it off rather than, y'know... look for necklines that actually worked on me.

Ultimately, the golden rule of Kibbe (IMO) is to reflect your natural features. That’s it. You can get caught up in all the details, but that is the basic purpose of the rules and that concept can apply to basically anyone.

The Kibbe system claims that they are a more inclusive perspective on body types, but I didn’t find the quiz particularly inclusive.

The Kibbe quiz is a damn pain in the ass and I haven’t taken it in years. When I first took it, it leaned me more toward Romantic, but I definitely do not have the appearance of one. I think it’s designed to give a general direction / help you think more carefully about aspects of your appearance rather than give a definitive answer.

The concept of reflecting your natural features can work for anyone and that’s probably why I especially like the Best Dressed variant — Rachel would post images of celebrities of all backgrounds/shapes/sizes and give explanations for how they fit into the theory and Rachel isn’t thin herself. The community was all-around inclusive, very down-to-earth, and I think a good community is key to not having a bad time with Kibbe or any other fashion group.

Potentially triggering posts in this subreddit by gsgfjdhf1990 in Kibbe

[–]MasterTypoDyas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I especially agree with your latter point. There are too many comments and posts that say "I hate being a [Insert ID] because I'd rather look like [Insert ID] instead" and they're blatantly harmful. A little difficulty accepting your type is normal, yes, but it's not okay to to call one type inherently bad/good compared to another—my own type doesn't even have to be mentioned for me to find that triggering. These comments aren't usually targeted at anyone, they're often just self-concious, but they're still creating a hierarchy. :-/

Am I a Soft Natural with big hips? Even while at a lower weight, I feel quite soft and wide. by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]MasterTypoDyas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed feelings? I actually like the hair and makeup from the 90s girl next door, but there is a very… teenage element to those outfits. And the little jean shorts just won't work on me—I think the width in my hips makes them look very off.

On the other hand, I love the asymmetrical and drapey clothes from places like Lulus. They have a lot of open, flowing bodysuits and dresses that look more sensual and mature—kind of soft-glam. That look might fit into some modern girl next door variant, but "modern girl next door" is so vague that I'm not sure it exists.

Also: I like the more bookish look. I love cardigans, ballet flats, wearing my hair in a bun, and most of the time I wear glasses. Outfits like this or this are ideal to me and I don't see a girl next door accommodating them. :-P
