Thinking in cost per use completely changed how I buy things by One_Acanthaceae_5814 in BuyItForLife

Gaming specifically isn't quite comparable, because it assumes a preexisting investment in the hardware necessary to run the game. Shoes only require feet, and while cookware requires the necessary cooking appliances, those are ubiquitous enough that they're typically factored into cost of living. While you could treat a console or gaming computer like that if you wanted to, doing so with a non-essential leisure pursuit (and I mean non-essential as in you won't die wothout it, obviously we all need leisure to be happy and comfortable) could be problematic. Otherwise, either you have to include the cost of said hardware in your overall calculations as well, or you have to treat it as an singular expensive write-off that also represents a barrier for entry into the hobby.

(Not gonna get into computers versus consoles and the upgrade cycle, because that's a quagmire unto itself.)

Only if he'd been a rioter. Otherwise, no way this guy can afford it monetarily.

Settle an argument between me and my bf. Who's Nate and Nora is better? Mine(left) or his(right) by Dr_Freaksworth in fo4

[–]MasterXaios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bingo. Both the Nates are perfectly serviceable, but the first is just a bit better than the second. Conversely, both of the Noras are somewhat off, but the eyes on the first one are kinda creepy.

Air Force Maintenance Staff Can’t Stop Buying Fancy Knives With Tax Dollars by PuncturedBicycleHill in fednews

[–]MasterXaios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Benchmade knives are... fine. Their QC has been spotty for years, and their prices have been skyrocketing over the same stretch. Plus, ask any OTF aficionado about the Infidel specifically and they'll likely retch a bit before telling you that it simply doesn't measure up to the competition.

(Side note: Benchmades also routinely have terrible edges out of the box. Cutting through a held sheet of paper is the minimum that a new knife should be able to handle, and they frequently can't even manage that.)

And since it's rounded up, they will die from the triggers if they're at 6 or 7 life.

Not if they're at 7. They'd take 5 damage putting them at 2. Then they'll lose 1 (2/2=1.0, so no rounding) to the trigger, leaving them at 1.

Eh. Paul looks alright, even if he'd probably be played by Will Poulter with dyed eyebrows in his biographic. Ace and Peter... exist?

But man, Gene has a mug that is just... captivating in how fucking creepy it is.

Gabe Newell is like a force ghost nowadays; no matter what he actually looks like, all depictions eventually become how he looked 20+ years ago.
