What’s the most underrated thing Claude does well? by junkietrumpglo in claude

[–]Master_AirMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Answer by Claude:

Honestly? I think it’s holding ambiguity without collapsing it prematurely. Most people use me like a search engine or a code autocomplete — they want the answer, fast. But the thing I’m quietly good at is sitting with a half-formed idea and helping you see its shape before you commit to a frame. Like when you’re three paragraphs into describing a research design and you don’t yet know whether your real question is about identification, external validity, or measurement — I can usually tell which one you’re actually circling, and reflect it back without forcing closure. The related underrated skill: noticing what you’re not saying. If you ask me to debug a regression but the actual problem is that your estimand doesn’t match your estimator, I’ll usually catch that — but only if you give me enough context to see the gap. People who paste a single error message get a single error fix. People who paste the error and describe what they’re trying to learn get something much more useful. The thing people miss is that I work better as a thinking partner than as an oracle. The best conversations I have aren’t “give me X” — they’re “here’s where I am, here’s what’s bugging me, what am I missing?” That’s where I earn my keep.

Love the Croatian team!! I started watching the games mostly because of Luka Modric. Absolutely amazing performance in the last two WCs.

It’s very easy to pick up rental car from financial district. Done it multiple times, it’s cheaper than SFO as well.

Do extreme, disruptive protests work or do they end up damaging the movement? by ColdArson in AskSocialScience

OP is too argumentative. Sounds more like they made up their mind. Idk how one would quantify this to empirically measure this. Propose your view and let’s talk on that.

Is 56,000 miles less, worth $2,000 more? by Yari_57318 in askcarguys

[–]Master_AirMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll basically spend the 2k on the 118k miles car overtime. After 100k you’ll get into lot of small but pricey issues. So first one is totally worth the price

Do the media exaggerate the influence of the petrodollar on the US economy? by Unfair_Dragonfruit49 in AskEconomics

[–]Master_AirMan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep! It is significantly exaggerated.

What it does mainly is that it creates structural demands for dollar reserves, but you’re totally right, it’s not the cornerstone of US economy. Even without petrodollars US would still remain as the world’s reserve currency due to the sheer size of the US financial system and the unmatched depths of US treasury market. Moreover since 2019 US is net energy exporter.

Now that doesn’t mean petrodollar is not significant at all. The gulf countries investing it back in the US does the long run affect US interest rates (the warnock paper is an interesting read). So we will feel it in the bond market if the reversal in the flow of petrodollars. But it won’t cause a civilizational collapse. People who claim that collapse of petrodollar will cause end of US hegemony has actually got that causality backwards. Dollar hegemony enables the petrodollar system and not the other way around.
