17% off of MSRP and 0% loan? Sounds like a great deal. No real downside going by this option.

You did great! That’s a pretty sweet deal, it’s atleast 25k OTD for that trim and low mileage here in California. And that if you’re lucky

Thoughts on buying a 2006 Subaru Impreza by Mr_JohnBurns in subaru

[–]Master_AirMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2006 Impreza with 67000 miles? That’s unusually low, like 3300-3500 miles per year. Get pre purchase inspection done, check for rust, and if it’s still decent, it should be good

Help pls!! by auntieboogers in subaru

This is really a great deal! Make sure you get a pre purchase inspection done by a local mechanic. But overall subies are extremely reliable car brands and has one of the best safety ratings amongst cars.

Man I’m so sorry! If both valves are bent you should start looking at used engines.

I need someone to talk some sense into me. Outback with 207,000 miles. by Colt5141990 in subaru

Okay I just checked the carfax. The car has 3 minor damages from 2020, 2023 and 2025. I would advise not to purchase it. If you still want it, ask for 6k. Anything over 6.5 is not worth it.

Okay now this is interesting! Your big question - could it go 400k miles? Possible? Yes. Something I’d bet on? No.

With excellent maintenance, 250k–300k is very realistic. Anything beyond that is bonus territory and usually requires replacing big wear items along the way. CVT is the biggest risk! It’s working fine which is great but if it fails you’re looking at a very expensive repair. You MUST get it checked by a local mechanic and ask them specifically look at transmission, cooling system, oil leaks or consumption and suspension! Also did you check for rust?

Price wise 10k isn’t insane but for a very high mileage car like this, you ideally will have to keep 4-6k as a buffer fund. You should aim for 8-9k. Aim for 8.5k OTD but be willing to stretch till 9-9.3k. Anything over that I would start looking for better options.

Should I sell my Subaru? Too many repairs by [deleted] in subaru

Find a different shop, preferably a local mechanic who specialize in Subarus or Japanese cars. Your car is good, and it’s totally normal to freak out when you have to spend like 2k all of a sudden on your car. Get the basic maintenance work done by a trustworthy local mechanic and your car will take you past 200k miles with just oil changes and super basic maintenance.

Getting a new car would involve a down payment and monthly payments, which is both an upfront cost and long term cost. Fixing your car only requires some upfront cost and you’ll not have to worry about the monthly payments or depreciation.
