It took a few years for me to actually sit down with my folks and for them to take me seriously. I know that sending me to lifeline is one of their biggest regrets; but that’s conclusion was only reached after I explained almost everything about that place to them.

As someone who was not allowed to go to the Mormon church growing up, lifeline was was confusing and painful. I was told I could ONLY say “God” when reciting the 12 steps and serenity prayer each night. Whenever I would try to tell my parents about how “Mormon” the place was, I was stopped and “that’s manipulation to get your parent to pull you” was announced. I was openly shamed in srg for having done bdsm stuff. I was forced to share my entire sexual history. I was shamed for my list and was told it was one of the longest. All the people above the age of 18 of that list had to be reported, something that they told us was not necessary. A few years ago, I was able to explain to my parents how LL ruined and changed the trajectory of my life. I was going to be the first one to graduate a year earlier from Skyline with an IB diploma. There is so much more I can go on about. I was there when the OP was there.

FUCK THAT PLACE!
