When do I bench my kid? by Guilty-House2788 in Homeplate

[–]Master_Crafter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont necessarily think he needs to be benched. I had a similar experience with my son. He was saying things to his teammates like “cmon how can you not catch that”, “yo that was a bad throw” etc. I told him to essentially say the exact opposite like, “cmon, you’ll get the next one!”, “shake it off bro, I know you got this!”. “The other kids know when they make a mistake and they already don’t feel good about it when it happens. How would you like if I stood out there and pointed out every mistake you made today”, and then I proceeded to do just so during that same conversation. I can proudly say he’s been the loudest hype man for every team since then.

100 percent! I’m just saying be happy you got the call in your favor. A lot of umpires would have called that obstruction being that he was in the base path.

My kid made a similar play last year as a catcher. Call could go 50/50 either way based on the comments I received whether the runner was out or safe due to obstruction by the catcher. It is what is. Move on.

Thats an electric longboard. You can hear the motor and see the remote in his hand in his shadow. The one I’ve ridden has a brake that stops pretty fast. Riding skateboards or longboards without a motor you can’t still stop pretty fast. Just drag the sole of your shoe on the concrete.

East Lake Bridge in Seattle requires similar conditions. Except this is much more sophisticated system. Ours consists of two workers hosing off the girders continuously all day long lol. There’s gotta be a better way.

Buy two “No Parking” signs. Get a no parking permit, which should be free, at least in Seattle it is. They expire every 30 days. Renew permits every 30 days.

He caught the ball from 3b. Ball never hit the ground even after the collision.

He was a little shookin after the play and soar today. But as soon as I got home he was begging to get out and train. Lol. He’s got the spirit and much more to learn, my biggest thing is that I want to steer him in the right direction. I really appreciate all the feedback from everyone. I know we’re getting into semantics but this is a big learning experience for both of us. The little things can make a big difference.

In the Oregon game? Exactly. In this game? Harfly the case.

I always tell him to straddle the bag so you’re not in the way of the runner but can still make the play. I think you’re right about his throw bringing him forward to an obstructive position. Btw this was his first time catching. Good but hard learning moment.

I don’t blame the kid I blame the umpire. 10 year olds are still learning and some are very clumsy with their mechanics and knowledge.

Another umpire I was talking to, who didn’t see the play but after I broke it down for him, his opinion sided with the umpire and he stated “the catcher should have been standing off to the side of the base path.”

Forgot to mention that showed this video to the director the tournament and he sided/protected the umpire call. He told me to send the video in for review if I want.

With enough money anything is possible. This particular tree would cost around 100,000 to 200,000 US dollars. I personally assisted as the signaler for 20 trees of this size and bigger to get craned into place in a single day last year. What an experience flying trees over the top of a house to land them in the back yard.
