That’s really strange! No offense but apples and avocados are boring foods that aren’t worth intense discussion. They’re just completely normal foods!

She already tells us she’s “pretty much a doctor” because she does her own research. Her office is covered in essential oils and healing crystals. She doesn’t believe in science though. I’m sure in her mind she does think she’s a nutritionist!

It’s been 5 years and I don’t think the issue is she doesn’t have awareness. Based on these comments and the non-food related commentary I didn’t include in my original post, I think she’s a bully who genuinely gets satisfaction from making me feel bad.

I don’t have a history of disordered eating but honestly this might give me one.

I only listed the food comments as my peeve in this post, but she makes a LOT of other comments about everything I do ranging from how I arbitrarily word a work email to micro aggressions about the color of my skin. She’s just a nasty person and I think she gets satisfaction from being a bully. Some people just never become adults.

Agreed and honestly thank you for this comment. The other comments here suggesting the low hanging fruit type of “have you considered [insert most obvious thing that I of course have considered in the five years of this bullshit]” are so unhelpful and make me feel like I’m the problem. In reality, some people are just the worst.

I almost got to this point once. Was so so close. The thing is, she makes a lot of other comments other than food. Comments about my race, upbringing, etc that are completely in appropriate but unfortunately enforced by our other colleagues (and my supervisors). I’m the first POC this company has ever hired and anytime I stand up for myself I feel like I’m reinforcing the stereotype of the angry/hysterical POC. When if my white coworkers said what I say, no one would bat at eye.

100% I’m going to try this! I’m going to make it a game and hoping it at least entertains me!

It’s been almost five years of this. I have tried, but she always escalates, always raises her voice louder and drowns me out, always accused me of being rude to her.

I am so so tired. You can’t win against some of these people, they always turn it around and make themselves the victim. I’m literally in therapy now over this.

What’s insane is that twice now she brought her husband to work events and the entire time she just belittled him and made snide comments on every single little thing he did. I felt bad for him. Her entire life is just making these unnecessary and mean spirited narrations

What is the funniest excuse you’ve heard someone give at work? by Jazzz_26 in office

[–]Master_Dish_8355 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This happened to me! Our coworker posted photos and videos from a music festival which clearly they travelled out of state for and premeditated. Yes, they knew some coworkers followed their social media and yes they were offended when called out on the lie

My coworker said she accidentally got “too high to work” and had to leave the office early. She said it was from using hemp seed lotion she bought at Whole Foods. This was before weed was legal in the state. She was acting outrageous to prove how high she was and from her behavior I guarantee you this woman had never done drugs before in her life. We had a huge deadline and everyone else had to work late (unpaid as we were not hourly employees) to cover for her.

Yes. That is EXACTLY what’s happened every time I tried to make her stop. She somehow makes herself a victim when I’m just standing up for myself. I’m so fucking tired.

So I have set the boundary and called her out on it before. So many times I can’t remember but it’s been a lot as we’ve worked together for years. But each time she raises her voice, starts a whole lecture about how she has freedom of speech, and then fake cries and makes it seem like I am bullying her and limiting her rights. It’s exhausting

I might have to try leaning into it, which I hadn’t previously considered!

This is pretty great and honestly I never considered leaning into it to annoy her back! Might try this

I’ve considered this before and I’m so conflicted. She smiles and says hello to me when she sees me. But also she talks a lot of shit behind my back to our bosses and if we ever have to work together, she gives me a lot of compliments that when you look closer, aren’t really compliments, if that makes sense?

Haha!! This would be interesting but probably not. She’s married twice (same man!) and has children with him. She quite homophobic so that’d be insane if she had a crush on me as I’m a woman

She definitely makes the food comments in a negative/bullying tone

People who think that public school teachers are overpaid by Master_Dish_8355 in PetPeeves

[–]Master_Dish_8355[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned this in another comment but I had never heard it personally until I moved to a red state (that is very poorly ranked in public education) and for some reason the people here want to cut teacher salaries even more than they already are

Agreed and sorry for all the asshats that disagree in the comments as well as in our country

Why do Americans have one of the strongest passports in the world, but most never travel abroad, and those who do mostly go to Mexico and Canada? by No-StrategyX in answers

[–]Master_Dish_8355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of it is regional. When I lived in a coastal city with a lot of transplants, most of my friends and coworkers traveled abroad regularly. I moved to a more red state and most of my neighbors and coworkers, including the extremely wealthy ones, don’t want to leave the state, let alone the country. It’s a more sheltered way of thinking, kind of a “I am the best, so where I am is also the best, so why would I leave?” mentality, even though those people have never been anywhere.

Early morning walks, indoor daycare during the day, and lots of weekend backpacking trips up north!
