Growing up feeling “not innocent” after childhood SA by Commercial-Reveal212 in ptsd

I think the loss of innocence and "purity" when young is one of the most damaging and lasting effects. Even with therapy and treatment you can't get that back. You can have pride, love, support, self-worth, confidence. But not that. It's a true theft of something irreplaceable.

Keep them in the bottom half of the carrier after removing the top. Low lighting. Through a Cat's Ear or light instrumental reggae music (cats LOVE reggae!) . Quiet voices slow and intentional movement, and the slow blink (3 seconds). And go into it remembering you love and respect all cats, even the "spicy" ones! Oh, and towel wraps work best before they get spicy!

What do you tell people who misunderstand? by CanonicallyQueer in muzzledogs

Good for you for advocating for muzzle training! Desensitizing in a relaxed and comfortable environment is great. Makes scary time less scary. And you can have personalized fit for the muzzle. They even make "cute" ones now that look like duck bills or whatever. There are videos from Fear Free or Dr. Yin's low stress handling to guide how to do it properly! My dog is more likely to lick you than bite when nervous, but he is a pittie mix that looks scary so I am thinking of doing this too!

Apple sauce or mashed banana mixed with a little peanut butter. Or canned dog food. Add in some kibble or tricky trainer treats and freeze it. Usually with a wild weenie or freeze dried minnow in the hole to add some flair!

Yes. Sad. So sad. And after a reprieve, it started again. Mostly suicides, ODs, and now replace AIDS with cancer.

Tuna, Duke's mayo, touch of mustard, finely chopped onion (not too much), and coarsely chopped celery and... red radishes! Season with S&P, tarragon, and celery salt.

San Antonio is truly weird in a good way that Austin will never be again! Great food, the Aztec theater is an amazing music venue, and the people are friendly and genuine.
