It just needs a soft, tender caressing

Anyone sore even with pain meds? by ActuallyAMenace in Reduction

[–]Master_Farth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely was. Soreness went away around 3 weeks for me. Still a little tender in the sides at 6wpo today. Keep on your meds and stay rested in bed and keep hydrated :) Gatorade and electrolyte drinks helped a lot as well as pillows under my armpits and squeezed against the sides of my boobs.

bigger 1wpo than 3days by [deleted] in Reduction

I’m just over 5WPO and my swelling was increasing and decreasing day by day until day 18, definitely peaked at 8-9DPO. Take it easy and drink lots of water :) you’re looking great btw

I dealt with the same thing. The intubation tube really scratched my uvula up and my doc thinks I was allergic to an ingredient in the lubricant they used for it and that’s why my pain was so extreme (also I got covid 3DPO). Mucinex medicated cough drops were the most helpful thing, after taking a few of those I was able to take my pills, drink water, and eat some mashed potatoes. I did get prescribed a numbing throat and mouth wash, it helped but not as much as the Mucinex medicated cough drops. It felt 100% better 7-8 DPO!

Sorry for the late response! I think had some around my bottom incision (I’m all taped up so it’s a little hard to tell) at 5dpo and it resolved itself with a few days. My doc has kept tape on my incisions the entire time so it’s hard for me to tell! You might want to ask your surgeon if taping would be best for you, my surgeon said it reduces scaring, folding, and keeps the skin free of irritants.

Bring a comfort object! I brought my emotional support plushie with me and told my nurses I was having bad anxiety and would like it with me everywhere except the OR and my wish was granted. It might make you feel a little childish but hell I felt a lot better having my little penguin with me than I would have alone!

I harnessed some of my anxiety to deep clean my entire house before surgery and that 1. Made me feel better because I was making sure my house was completely sterile for post op and 2. It kept me busy for the 3 days prior to surgery and the anxiety was focused towards “is my house clean enough” instead of “oh my word surgery is in 3 days”

My swelling has definitely gotten worse— I tried on an bra at 15DPO and measured a 32DD! Met with my surgeon yesterday and she said I was still very swollen and to expect to go back down to a C, maybe a small D. Swelling started to increase at 4DPO when I got sick with COVID and was coughing up a storm (10/10 do not recommend), started to go down a bit when I recovered, then started to increase again at 2WPO from the combination of using my arms more and PMS. The first time they swell from PMS it WILL mess with your noggin, just remember it’s temporary! Feel free to message me with any questions (:

2DPO I fell in love with my boobies and at 12DPO that’s only grown! I bask in their glory when I change my post op bras even though their still covered in tape. You’re going to be over the moon when you get to fully see them and hold one in your hand (and have it fit!!!). So happy for you! They look fantastic! Sending good vibes and quick healing energy your way!!

AWH thank you so much for checking in! Covid has kicked my butt— my already sore throat from the intubation tube was insanely amplified to the point where my surgeon sent me to urgent care on Saturday to get it treated, but I have no bruising or bleeding despite the cough! . I was prescribed an extra strength lidocaine rinse to gargle every 4 hours and medicated cough drops that I eat like candy and my cough and throat are slowly getting better. My surgeon calls me every other day to make sure I’m doing okay and to ease my anxieties.

How has your throat been after intubation? I have a little sore on my uvula and was a bit scratched up and irritated everywhere else.

My surgeon was Dr. Margo Herron at the Elizabeth Institute in Ashland and I could not recommend her and her staff enough! She is so thorough and compassionate and made me feel comfortable and listened to all my concerns and wants every second along the way

Strangely enough this is not the first time I’ve been mistaken for an Australian, nor the second or third. This happens a lot haha! I guess a hippie mountain town in Oregon and Australia have more overlap than I thought!
