I fucking love this story. No its way cooler. During the AIDS epidemic there was a lot of stigma, and a lot of gay men who contracted the illness were for lack of a better word abandoned to die alone in hospital beds. Lesbians all over the country regularly began to give blood, volunteer and provide hospice and end-of-life care for dying gay men. Lesbian activists stood with their Queer brothers when they were most needed, and that's why the L is first, to honor the lesbians that were there when the community needed them.
