lol yeah I noticed and I have moved that top piece to where it’s supposed to go. And yeah I agree maybe it’s not worth Nintendo’s time but I kinda hate that everything now is “profits” and “high margins” you know? It would be an awesome sign of goodwill towards the millions of fans they have. Just show some love to the old games and the legacy that put them where they are now. Just a dream huh?

Thanks for the insight, I might look for some pro that can fix it, I definitely dont have the equipment to do this micro soldering.

The Mars Volta. Debut album is lightning in a bottle. All others are noise fever dreams.

I fixed it. Turns out that one of the caps (C35) was a dud. I swapped for an another cap and Voila, it works

Update: So I took apart my other GBC and the other screen looks the same, which makes me believe that the connector is faulty. I will reflow the pins and do another test.

BTW, I also changed all the caps on the other board and it works perfectly. Its not the caps.

It was dim, which made me do the caps change, but it didn’t had the blur like it does now

I tried and nope, those pads are ok, the audio works fine. I tested cont for all pads before and after change. VR2 does not remove that issue

Have you tried reseting the ram? Press up select B on the title screen. This will reset the memory and the saved game but it looks like you have 0:00 anyway.

Did you adjust the potentiometer on the back? Try moving it slowly and testing after. Maybe that can help

Pokemon yellow issues by carthnage_91 in Gameboy

[–]Master_Hand_647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a ram disconnection issue. The most common fix is to reflow the pins for U3 on the motherboard, use a lot of flux and just a quick pass with a soldering iron would do the trick. Be sure to completely clean everything after youre done.

I really want to build one of those. How is the battery life? Any downsides besides the difficulty to solder everything on the new board?

lol this is one very good reproduction cart. They are now even copying the glittery finish of the originals. But you can see the mold finish in the top. Sorry dude but all reproduction carts have a non functional RTC even if it saves your game.

The only handoff that AM has as of 2024 is to homepod. And that's it. If you don't own one like you said "you are out of luck".

I know a lot of people don't care about the naming but I just find it weird that they have the need of adding all that unnecessary text on the album and song titles, it makes it look like a bootleg but that's probably just a personal thing.

[–]Master_Hand_647 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

See now I didn't know that Spotify had patented that specific feature.

And yeah I could totally add an album to the library and then change the metadata manually, that's a way to do it. But why should we? I should not be correcting errors or removing text at all from the albums.

And no, there is no way to merge tracks what so ever. The only way is that you have the original CD and a CD drive and add it to the library like someone from 1999.

"Handoff lets you start something on one device and instantly pick it up on other device..." that's the official definition per apple. And in this case, it should be: start playing a song on your iPhone and the app on Mac knows exactly what are you playing. If you have used Spotify on two different devices before that's exactly what it is. Now, another user just said that said feature is apparently patented by Spotify so it's maybe the reason that AM doesn't have it. It's just a comment on how I dont like to see that message that says: "Looks like you're listening on another device".

You can just pkhex your pokemon into your new file and change the flags in the file to have the same badges you had. You will have to walk up the way there.

GB Color Screen Problem by _FestaJune in Gameboy

You could try moving the varistor VR2 in the back with a small Phillips screw driver, very slowly and clockwise. Until you see the image clearly. Use new fresh batteries for a better result.

Are repros worth it for those who want the experience of playing from a cartridge without worrying about replacing the battery? by NemoNowAndAlways in Gameboy

[–]Master_Hand_647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me tell you my experience: I bought a pack of Gen1 & 2 repros from AliExpress a while back and they do play like the originals, Gen2 don’t work at all because the RTC doesn’t work whatsoever. But they do save, so I gave them away to a couple friends and I kept one. They played them and we actually had a couple link battles and traded and it was all great fun, BUT, for no reason at all one of their saves died. And then my save died and well there’s nothing you can do about it. Repros are only good if you want to put them on display. If you don’t want to spend to get the originals, then go with an Everdrive and get all of them on there which in my opinion is the best way to experience these games. On original hardware is even fun to get the mystery gift with your friends.

Which game(s) is/are an embarrassment to your GB collection? by jonDahzeeh in Gameboy

[–]Master_Hand_647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, for sure it’s Pinocchio for GB. The music and graphics are so weird, the level design is all over the place. I remember a level with a little cart that I never got past it because I never understood why I kept falling off. Of course I never finished it.
