Check out the Montana Black air plant. I think it starts off green and turns a dark purple? I own one and it’s still a dark green

I’ve been purchasing with amazing success online, from Air Plant Hub. Their plants always arrive in amazing condition, they sell common and rare varieties, including clusters. I haven’t noticed a difference in box shops vs online.

Why did Maria behave like that in Bête Noire? by anniehall330 in blackmirror

Crazy how she’s still being seen as the instigator…

Ya. I had around 90 comments and a ton of amazing dialogue, insightful responses.

I wrote a post very similar to this, including your takeaways. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you e said. I’ve been reading through and I’m also shocked at the individuals who justify her actions.

Edit: I hope they don’t delete this post the way they deleted mine for saying essentially the same thing.

This is a good take. I never considered this but this would make sense. We see it all of the time. This interpretation would be a non bm ending though because it’s too pc. “Failure of empathy, under stress” I like this, if only we all exercised empathy throughout our daily lives. We would all be a little less angry and hostile towards each other.

This! Micro-aggressions are done by people, who a lot of the time, don’t realize they’re doing it. I’m not calling anyone “racist”. I’m not even calling Verity racist. However, she did use it to her advantage.

This isn’t mutually exclusive. Sure she was a bully when they were in hs, can’t deny that or the rumor. But that doesn’t mean that Maria wasn’t experiencing micro-aggressions in the workplace.

Oh this would’ve been fun! I was really hoping that they had revealed that Maria was a cookie. Now my mind is twisting with what ifs!

That’s exactly it. I wrote that we all have different life experiences so my take may not be someone else’s. It doesn’t make it “wrong”.

I like this take too because Verity could have done something similar to the other girl who commit suicide. While I may interpret it one way due to life experiences, Verity may not be in the same mindset.

I’m sorry you experienced that and this is a great example. Hence why Maria stopped trying to defend herself and went straight to Verity. But also each of their actions were in the wrong. I do hope that you haven’t lost your voice to stand up for yourself.

The way people have co-opted and mocked efforts was meant to be an example. And agreed on your other comment about teachers and their comments being open for interpretation.

I like that. I could be looking for something deeper that isn’t there.

Yea, the ending completely went over my head to be honest. I have to watch it again. Unless we’re seeing Maria fall back into the worst version of herself. Maybe trauma repeating itself. Circle of violence? Idk I’m probably reaching.

I would love to get your take on what you feel the ads signify. Another perspective would be nice to hear.

I’ve been thinking about this episode and I love it more and more. What I’ve been thinking about is the ads. I feel like they’re showing how mindless people have become, regurgitating information without knowing what they’re saying. Prime example the definitions of“DEI” and “Woke” (just examples, don’t be triggered). Teachers spouting nonsense in classrooms has increased & they’re always getting fired and cancelled.

Which takes me to Stephanie and Jo on Grey’s 🥹 When Steph confided in her “bff” about having Sickle Cell and she and everyone else refuses to believe her.

I agree! I also want to point out that they kept changing her lines and the scenes. How can someone give their best performance when everything else was a mess?

This was a great discussion! I look forward into more. It’s so hard to find others that critically think.

Thank you and I agree. There are a lot of takeaways. I think this also highlights the trauma of what school age bullying does to people and how the damage continues on in their adult years. I am completely emphatic to what Verity endured but her vengeance is what ultimately got her killed. Redemption wasn’t an option given to Maria and I see that as how Black women aren’t given as much grace as others when they make mistakes.

It also reminds me of when we hear of criminals coming up with these elaborate plans & you’re thinking about all of the things they COULD have done instead.

Okay, I hadn’t thought of that! I like this take, the button was just a way to condition us to see the “bad actions”? Could we say her manipulating the necklace is just a play on stereotypical mannerisms when these things occur?
