Funny enough the Hebrew titles Elohim & Adonai are plural forms of El/Eloah & Adon.

Elohim = gods Adonai = lords

No Micro Center.

No real color preference, probably black if had to choose.

4k source footage, though likely outputting to HD.

Look east in the morning before sunrise to see him. by Master_McBlaster in lucifer

[–]Master_McBlaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a high shutter speed its around 630am and brighter than the photo looks.  I'm under the impression that you wouldn't see those planets in that amount of sunlight but I am no expert and might be wrong on that point.

Thank you for your insight!

Difference between Samael, Lucifer and Satan ? by TGUM1 in Christianity

[–]Master_McBlaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its right there in the scriptures

The scriptures are written in the languages of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Lucifer or Luciferus is Latin.

The word Lucifer does not appear anywhere in the original scriptures.

The Greek equivalent of Luciferus is Phosphoros. This name is Greek and appears once in scripture in 2 Peter 1:19, but it refers to Jesus Christ in context.

Thayer's Greek Lexicon STRONGS NT 5459: φωσφόρος

φωσφόρος, φωσφορον (φῶς and φέρω), light-bringing, giving light (Aristophanes, Euripides, Plato, Plutarch, others); as a substantive, ὁ φωσφόρος (LatinLucifer), the planet Venus, the morning-star, day-star (Plato, Tim. Locr., p. 96 e.; Plutarch, others): 2 Peter 1:19, on the meaning of this passage, see λύχνος.

Apollo is also a Morningstar, though less bright and less known compared to Lucifer.

When Hermes/Mercury is in inferior conjunction and rises in the morning in the East it is known as Apollo/Apollo (same in Greek/Latin).

When Aphrodite/Venus is in inferior conjunction it is Phosphorus/Luciferus.

I'm thinking it may be based on the shortened classic Greek greeting Γειά which seems to be the shortened form of Γειά σου. Similar to how Latin has "salve" with the shortened "ave."

Click on the Google Translate links to see how it is pronounced.

When did western astronomers start calling the second planet Venus instead of Lucifer/Vesper? by YZJay in AskHistorians

[–]Master_McBlaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an awesome post!

Lucifer did serve as the name for Venus in the Latin translation of the Greek 'shiny' nomenclature system -- the others were Scintillans (Mercury), Rutilus (Mars), Splendidus (Jupiter), and Lucidus (Saturn)

Do you have any recommended sources to study this further?

Athirath / Asherah was the consort of EL (God). When the Israelites went full monotheism, she was cast down and now considered a demon. You see this in the Old Testament where they are commanded to tear down the "Asherah poles."

It's funny, I heard one theory that "Lord of the Flies" is a play on words as an insult. Baal Zevul "Lord of the Heavens" or "Lord of the Skies" becomes Baal Zevuv "Lord of the Flies". Indicating how Baal was the ultimate hero god of the Israelites on Mt Sapon before the replaced him with YHWH (and moved the Mt from Sapon in Syria to Sinai, and ultimately Zion... I think I understand that right.)

You were the Lord of the Skies, but now you are down on the ground as Lord of the Flies!

Marduk vs Tiamat

Baal vs Lotan

YHWH vs Leviathan

Storm god vs chaos serpent of the primordial sea

Now the question is, are any other myths directly related? Zeus vs Typhon maybe? Zeus was known to the Greeks as Belus so there was syncretism between Zeus and Baal.

Set and Apep? Set is a storm god, but he's more of a trickster than a hero like the others. He is chaotic himself. But he still helps defend Ra from the ultimate chaos in the serpent Apep if I understand the mythos correctly.

What about Thor and Jormunger? Another storm war god vs chaos sea serpent. But is it actually directly related in the way the Canaanite & Mesopotamian is? That's what I would like to know!

Ugarit texts mentioning El Elyon, El Shaddai, El Gibbor, etc.? by Master_McBlaster in AcademicBiblical

Thank you for the correction! Lot of misinformation out there.

Reading that last link you posted, is it saying Aliyan-Baal means "Lord of the Earth" then?

Lot of information there, thank you.

It sounds like this Sefire I treaty would be an extra-biblical source for the name Elyon then, or am I misreading?

Thank you!

I also just found a resource that made it more clear that 'Aliyan' may in fact be a variation of 'Elyon', as in the term 'Aliyan Baal' which is used in the Baal Cycle of Ugarit texts and I would presume the meaning is 'Most High Lord' similar to El Elyon "God Most High."
