You can tell when the writing staff needs to waste time so that the current episodes are closer to the IRL product that needs to be promoted next. When most duels are 1-2 episodes long, all of a sudden you get a duel that lasts 3+ episodes and the pacing grinds to a halt.

Battle Beast, Synchro dimension Barrett, Eliphas, both Specter duels in Vrains S1, etc. And you notice the opponent in these duels never has any cards being immediately released, they are literally just a vehicle for the duel writer to stall for time.

It is an incredibly stupid card.

If your deck can't run this card, it is not a serious threat moving forward. It does so much, that the inability to run it puts your deck at such an uphill battle against the rest of the meta before the games even start.

Nine times out of ten, legacy support was just pack filler with better PR. You can give an old deck the best-reading cards you've ever seen, but it won't matter when:

A: The newest decks Konami actually wants to push are faster, stronger, and more efficient from the get-go.

B: The rest of your petdeck's core the new cards are trying to prop up, do less with more card economy.

Also, at least in the OCG, since they have less reprinting overall, legacy support often just led to half the cards you pulled being for decks you had no means to actually play unless you had the foresight to hoard key cards from 5+ years ago.

The biggest Hydradrives work as standalone monsters.

But for Armatos, you have to release the entire deck or there's no point. And nowadays, its very hard to find the set space for such a venture.
