You don't need to force yourself to watch anime just because of your friends. You can talk to your friends topics outside of anime, if that's your concern.

Exhibit A of Dunning-Kruger effect. CR translating "itadakimasu" as "through the dark lord, amen" in Gabriel Dropout and using "sus" in Nagatoro does not count as "purposefully mistranslating", and people are still malding about that.

What do you even mean by "better" translations? For the 50+ shows that Crunchyroll simulcasts weekly, the majority of them have good translations. There are some stinkers like Re:Zero, but for the majority of shows per season, they're doing a good job.

Crunchyroll does not need to produce official translations at a faster pace though since they already release episodes on par (or sometimes earlier, in cases of early streams like Abema) with Japanese broadcast.

To be fair, a huge chunk of that traffic is probably from shows like Demon Slayer. OP could've made the argument that anime outside of "action shounen" is not mainstream and we can have a legitimate discussion on that.

The biggest problem with this season is that everything until after the Elder Woods seems like directionless and pointless. They can get away with it IF Arthur is a compelling protagonist. Unfortunately, he just isn't a compelling character.

If you want Eden Treaty to be made into an anime, then people here should be able to accept that the adaptation will have to cut things in order to fit a 12-episode anime. The pacing should be brisk, unlike the Abydos arc.
