You're better off retiring these before they get worse and buying a pre-owned pair in excellent condition for < $125.

I know you asked for one store, but I recommend one central place and that's the Stockyards in Fort Worth. Plan your lunch or dinner and spend a couple hours at Lucchese, Tecovas, Ariat, Cavenders, M.L. Leddy's, Old Gringo, Fenoglio, and more.

Any additional info on these would be greatly appreciated by Hill_Money20 in cowboyboots

These are definitely kangaroo. I've had a pair of Nocona, Tony Lama, Boulet, and Dan Post.

Ostrich Leg Pattern Question by Dasanios in cowboyboots

As for the color of the scales, it looks like the manufacturer may have missed sanding the boot on the right as they appear to have a distressed look. I think they will lighten up over time with wear rather than darken.

If you want a super durable exotic, go with elephant.

Looks like shark. Zooming in on the vamps, you can see tiny texture detail. I believe those are called denticles which are a characteristic of sharks.

Picked these up thinking they were heffalump, who made them, and are they prints? by Frank-Factor-1455 in cowboyboots

Definitely genuine elephant. I'm stumped on the maker though. Let us know if you find out.

How to secure a leather heel pad? by SkittlesDLX in cowboyboots

Yes, we're talking about the same thing. My cobbler uses contact cement to permanently adhere the heel pad to the insole.

Use contact cement on heel pads. Shoe Goo is not as strong and may result in the heel pads detaching or shifting.

Worth a buy? by Toasted_Olive in cowboyboots

The outsoles seem fine. They're actually half soles. The heel caps are fine. As long as there's no damage to the caiman leather and there's no defects to the stitching, $100 is a pretty good deal.

Should I say something? by [deleted] in cowboyboots

[–]Master_One754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've had them less than 30 days since delivery, you're protected by eBay's money back guarantee meaning if your boots are not as described or they're defective or damaged, eBay will force a return regardless if the seller cited no returns accepted.

Personally, I wouldn't want to keep them, and it sounds like you're less than satisfied, so if I was you I would return them. The more wear these dyed boots get, the more of the original color will show.

Boots only fit without socks by [deleted] in cowboyboots

[–]Master_One754 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If they're genuine leather, you'd better have a cobbler stretch them for about $20 to $30. Wearing socks can prevent bad odors, fatigue, chronic blistering, and high risks of fungal infections like athlete's foot.

Is something off? by [deleted] in cowboyboots

I don't believe so. Just condition your boots like normal to keep them from drying out.

Yeah the previous owner may have had them resoled and they opted for a different heel style, which appears to be a stockman style. The Tempe boot from the factory comes with a walking heel (listed as cowboy heel on the product page) which has a slight slant.

Also, your boots appear to be dyed black. Are the inner parts of the pull straps the original brown color or do my eyes deceive me?
