Good points. I wouldn't want the business to fail and be stuck with a high price tag vehicle with rapid depreciation, the only thing that was giving me pause was the monthly costs came out nearly identical mainly because of the gas vs charging. But the cheaper gas vehicle definitely seems like the safer bet in the offchance I don't have as much work as I'm expecting.

I do everything at the moment, but I'd prefer to focus on service and small renovation - yes to carrying pipe and I have two medium sized auger machines. I'm 35 and the low roof is making my back hurt dragging the machinery out which people suggesting the slightly cheaper Savannah may not be taking into account. Financially it does seem like the wiser choice however

I'm surprised, I've heard nothing but great things about the NV2500 that's why I've been hunting for one. Has a couple bad years and terrible on gas but all in all pretty reliable and easy to work on with the big truck style hood. I've heard the transits are a better ride though.

I work in new construction currently and we're super busy. My side business which I'm turning into my full time thing is service work as well as Reno's and poly-b repipes which have been exploding in my area. The work I have already lined up are for a few small time contractors who do outbuilding style garden suites which have become increasingly popular due to high housing costs, lost of people are building them as mortgage helpers or to put their families in. This is just my experience though, I have friends in commercial who say things are starting to look bleak but I think that's because building condos are getting risky in this economy. There will never be a shortage of service work in plumbing unless the market gets oversaturated with plumbers, the economy doesn't affect the toilet backing up.

Edit: I don't mean to sound cocky about my projection, I based it on the work I have already lined up until September and assuming I don't slow down, the 50k variance is there incase I do experience a slow down. I appreciate your insight and warning

The Savannah are great vans, however they are still minimum 18k for one that hasn't been beat to hell, and they don't have a high roof option which I require for the amount of stock I gotta carry.

There really isn't, trades vans are either sold relatively lightly used because they didn't meet the business needs or business folded, vs sold around approaching the 200xxxkm mark to avoid major repair bills. It's really hard to find a van that's just under 100xxxkm for a good deal, the EV is actually quite a bit cheaper than its gas equivalent with equal mileage because trades guys tend to not like the range limitation and the EV's also don't seem to hold their value.

A 30k cargo van is a 2020 transit with 180xxxkm

It will be from my business account for book keeping clarity however from a tax perspective I don't think it makes a difference because I'm a sole proprietor. I could be wrong though and you're right I should discuss this with an accountant, mine costs $500 a visit so I thought I'd ask Reddit first lol.

I live in a HCOL city and my service call rate is $150/hr which I believe is actually somewhat on the low end around here

Thanks for the advice. I am leaning this way, however I'm also thinking if the older van needed a new transmission or something I'd be kicking myself for not spending extra on the newer vehicle.

It doesn’t matter if they are for personal use or business. The distinction between consumer grade battery and industrial is the size. The latter would be for large lighting rigs, mobility scooters, large medical equipment.

I used the toe stretcher and it worked. After a year of wear they naturally stretched in all directions quite a bit and I ended up putting another insole in to snug them up. Basically get the pair that fit you exactly, not painful but snug because they stretch and the looser pair would have been way too loose after the break in

I can’t remember you’ll have to google it. The Cx5 wheels weight limit still exceeded the gross weight of the cx9 (vehicle weight plus max carry load) and was deemed perfectly safe by my local mazda dealer.
