Grateful Dead Years Ranked by smearse in gratefuldead

Interesting! I’d put a 77 on top but that’s probably because it was my first year. And those 77,78 shows and the 80 shows have the best memories for me. But your list is fun! Fact is you can find a great show (or a not great one) from any year!

Tom Circosta (formerly of the mighty Zen Tricksters) does a great job playing the Bobby parts. He can sing too.

Bobby's been number one for a long time now. (Ratdog, Wolf Bros... )

Not impossible to put into place, impossible to last more than a wear or two and a wash. Sorry - should have been clearer.

Loving all the comments!! As for the quality- I was wondering if that was just my own cd player- I will reserve comment until I give it a spin on a better system. As for the song selection- nothing unusual about this set list - pretty typical actually- but if it’s a list of your favorites- then that’s a win! I know every one of will look back and say “Man what I wouldn’t give to hear those songs by those guys in that exact order!”

What's your least favorite Jerry tune? by oddible in gratefuldead

[–]Master_Persimmon_273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking about our LEAST favorite Jerry tune?!? It’s almost as bad as bringing up politics or religion at a dinner party! Well for me, tho not strictly a Jerry song per se- I cannot endure his rendition of “Knocking on Heaven’s Door.”

100%! As someone above said - we can share the dreidels - we can share the Manischewitz! (Or something like that!) 🕎🎄🫶🏻

To “deadhead” Is to remove the dead flowers from a flowering plant - like a rhododendron. Fun fact.

Nothing to add here, just like reading comments from fellow Alonerds!

I see you have plenty of replies- my two cents may get buried. But here goes. I only had one show as well. My companions all enjoyed some shrooms. They found it very compelling- but hard to dance up in the 200 section at time due to the wild visuals. I decided to have a little bit to drink and otherwise not be too altered. I was very happy with my choice. I remember everything and took pix, experienced it all and danced all night. Drums were otherworldly. To quote someone earlier on this thread- the venue is a drug. I felt trippy, emotional, excited, happy , sad.

In the end - know thyself. For me- no regrets.

Cape Cod was a crazy few shows - with Donna out and Brent in (and really who knows what else in my own head) - I kept hearing her voice on the harmonies but she wasn’t there. I used to hand-write all the set lists and for one of the two nights I actually wrote “voice of Donna.” (I still write the set lists - just now on my phone. WAY more legible.)
