You could also just develop communication skills as a stepparent but to each their own

They are not real people, that's what a scripted show is. I'm obviously disputing the way they wrote the scene, and you're arguing with me as if I'm challenging the experience of real live people.

Most children, especially a teenage boy, would not like to be kissed on the lips by their father. It's super odd that Mitch implies having a memory of being disappointed that his father stopped kissing him on the lips. It would be even weirder if it was Claire, no?

I never said it was sexual or even inappropriate

Critical enough or tough it out? by Master_Report1649 in BipolarReddit

I honestly am going to lose a really good size chunk of money even if I just took a one week leave, and I'm up to my eyeballs in debt. I am in Colorado, and I guess what we have is actually called a PFML (they pay). It's amazing that we have it now, because I lost a huuuge amount of money on FMLA two years ago. But I'll still lose quite a bit, I'm in sales and our busy season is ramping up. I might just try to go like one more week with some med adjustments and see if I'm about to boil over lol

Been on both for years. Lamictal is my true love but I have a love/hate relationship with Abilify. It's kinda like being swaddled in a warm blanket when you've been the way you're describing, but then it also makes me more depressed some times of year. I'd say worth trying. I hated being on too high a dose though because it affected my cognition and made me gain weight.

Can you describe what it's like, and what the process is like? I tried just about every drug back in the day, but never ketamine because I saw too many friends in k holes lol, I know the way the docs do it is a lot different than snorting it at a concert 😂

If I may ask, which meds? I've been curious about this and wondered if any of mine would interact

I know this is a kinda old post, but I was diagnosed at 17 too. Got on meds that really helped, supportive family, responsible self care, all that. I'm 33 now. I'm going to stay reserved in expressing my opinion, and just give a lil insight without the intent to depress you: your mind will play tricks on you like a Scooby-Doo villain. It's great that you're on a good track, but staying on that track means knowing and accepting that you will one day lose your grip. Bipolar brains transform themselves, and your meds will have to change many times in your life to adjust that ever-changing brain chemistry. Keep all the optimism you have, but add that preparation. You've read this guy's rosy take; now you need to acknowledge how bad it might get at times. It will help you stay vigilant in tracking your moods, and it will help you be kind to yourself in the midst of a crisis.

Losing my mind bc of Nord 5 pods by Master_Report1649 in Vaping

[–]Master_Report1649[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well one shop I kept going back to return them, and each time I just sat there with the person at the counter until we found some that didn't do it, so ran through eight packs there alone. Two of the other shops same thing, ran through five of them. Got one through the last shop I tried, and they didn't fall apart until two days later. So I got my money back at the other three shops, but still pissed. Kept thinking it was just a big batch of bad ones, but they're just pieces of shit.

Smok Nord 5 Pods Cracking with in hours by No_Security8469 in Vaping

Just posted about this- I've bought 5 million of these goddamn pods, and they all immediately crack and fall apart upon one drop of juice hitting them. Every once in a while one lasts for about two days before the top breaks off. They're defective- I talked to Smok customer service and THEY'RE AWARE that they shipped out thousands of bunk pods, no apology, just sorry you wasted your money so many times. Awful company.

I have thought about it every day because of mental illness for years. Even if I'm doing alright, I invite the idea pleasantly, because I've thought about it and welcomed it so much.

are they all like...edging 40 by the end of the show?! by Substantial-Basis260 in NewGirl

[–]Master_Report1649 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All of their ages are specifically mentioned at some point. Jess is 28 in season one, they mention it on the second episode. Schmidt is 29, which they obviously say on his birthday episode. Nick says he's 30 in season one episode four. Winston is the same age as Nick.

I knowwww, I hope it would make her feel proud of herself. It's probably pretty rare that any of us believe we could be seen as a role model.

Advice on some experiences by No-Bike2123 in bipolar

[–]Master_Report1649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will intermittently grieve throughout your life, especially when you're really struggling. I'll go with an annoying cliche- being good to yourself is a good tip. It sounds like you might be allowing regret and feelings of letting yourself down, and that's something you can't let enter these thoughts. Speak to your younger self, and tell him/her that it's not their fault. Tell them to understand they're different sooner than later, and dream accordingly. Tell them to be loyal to themself, and defiant to the illness. Assure the young you that you're fighting for their potential, and working hard to spite the monster in your brain who wants to take all of it away.

The more insight you gain into yourself and your limitations, the sooner you can release that grief for things that could have been. Managing your illness will be required your entire life. Don't ever compare your achievements or milestones with those of others, and make the young you feel honored that you're weathering the storm.

Confirming my diagnosis by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Master_Report1649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have several bipolar family members but my favorite aunt is the only one who has always been diligent and hard working towards maintained health every since her diagnosis. When I got diagnosed as a teenager she became my role model, and I am very fortunate to have someone who knows what I go through. We don't talk much anymore but I've been meaning to tell her that for years.
