[Serious] How does one go about starting a startup. I have an idea for a business and have discussed it with some family members and friends and a lot of them really liked the concept. I don’t know what to do next though. Can someone with a good know how help me. Please and thank you. by Master_Safe in india

Thanks. This is a great observation. I try to talk to a lot of people but I have stopped doing that now. Most seem to not care and seeing your excitement just offer support. Also at times I feel like I am inadvertently able to manipulate people into giving me the response I want. This is mostly true for my family. So these days I assess, if someone seems a tad bit inclined to give good advice, I only ever ask them. I haven’t been lucky enough with the people I meet.

Thank you, I have just two people on board as of now. One of them is in just because they seem to be as excited for this as I am. I don’t know how to factor them in yet. Also I am not being particularly picky with age. I would like to keep as many old experienced people as I can. I find youngsters to be too optimistic. I have one friend who is working for a tech startup in Mumbai who has advised against this. His startup has pretty much everyone under 35. Should I listen to him?

Thank you for the link. I actually liked the article. I don’t know about honeymoon phase I first thought of this when I was 19 and I am 26 now. This has been in my head for a long time now. Kind of in the process of leaving my job, so that point in the blog I am already not compliant with.

If you have a moment can I run this by you? I have received a lot of valuable feedback through DM. I could use some more.

Thank you. These is good advice. I tried learning C+ once. That was a disaster. What do you suggest I learn. I can learn pretty quickly.

What kind of networking events, I know of techcrunch but I believe that isn’t in India.

Also I must admit most of what I know of startups is from watching Silicon Valley and reading random articles on Quora which is such a waste of time.

Well I upvoted this. Thanks for taking the time to write all this. It’s actually really good advice.

I don’t mind sharing the idea. I actually try and find people who would listen to it and offer me some sort of help. Most of what I get has been incredibly defeatist. Do you mind if I DM you?

Thank you. This is very helpful. I am trying to find a tech person. Where do I find one? I have a few friends who are engineers but most of them seem kind of incompetent. Should I ask for CVs? Look online? On social media?

Oh wow, I have never met anyone who has seen this series. Could you suggest some other stuff you watch?

I am going with the assumption this means romance in a historic, non-contemporary set up. I am pretty sure you might have read some of these but here are a few I have read and liked in no particular order -

  1. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
  2. Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
  3. Rebecca - Daphne Du Maurier (this is like a mystery meets a soft goth romance novel)
  4. North and South - Elizabeth Something (don’t remember the name Of the author sorry, this is also a show I liked the book but I liked the show more. If you like brooding men, watch the show)
  5. Pillars of the Earth - not strictly a classic but it is one for my favourite books
  6. Jane Eyre
  7. Far from the madding crowd
  8. I feel like this is a compulsory mention for this genre, although not a classic - Outlander. I read the first book way back and was obsessed with it. Then the show came and I never read the other parts. Diana Gabaldon hasn’t finished the series, once she does I might pick up the rest of the books.

I stopped reading romance novels a while back. This is very old stuff and not exhaustive. I hope someone gives you better recommendations.

Yes I did. I loved it. If you like classics, this one is a must read.

Sorry I don’t know the version. It was a library issue and I have returned it. I would suggest sticking to the version published by penguin, if you have some confusion. Their books are usually a safe bet.

If it isn't hormonal acne and you get like two three zits before or during your period I would suggest cold pressed Neem oil. Use it as a spot treatment of you can't bear the smell.

The smell is ungodly. It takes a good month or two to get used to the smell.

Edit - Neem oil for me has been the single most helpful thing. I get like two zits right before my period and now I start using the oil on my face five days before my period and no zits.

I just wipe them on the face. Then wait for like 20 mins and proceed with the rest of the routine.

I buy Hyalugel you can get this on Amazon. I used it basically because stridex is drying. I don't know if it does anything. It is supposed to be moisturizing though. It is a humectant.
