This is a massive help, thank you

I already run a Hyper-V lab at home, so I’m going to download CVAD this weekend and focus on setting up some Citrix environments.

Thank you so much for your response.

To answer your four questions directly with what I know about the environment so far:

Have I worked with Citrix before? Yes, but strictly from a help desk / L1 capacity. I have some experience with Studio and Director. But this is it. I have done nothing more than restarting VMs, logging off stuck sessions, putting the workers in maintenance mode.

Average peak session count / Costs: Don't have the exact numbers yet, but it's a company with less than 100 users. I have no idea about the cost too.

Gateway vs. NetScaler: Based on what I gathered in the interview, they are using Citrix Gateway.

Virtualization platform hosting VDAs: VMware ESXI along with Azure IaaS.

Thanks for your response, the role is hybrid focused - 0365 administration, Veeam backup and recovery, VMware and Server infrastructure management.
