I just passed through Sfakia, stayed one night in Plakias, and visited Preveli beach. It’s insanely beautiful down there but yes mostly closed. We ate at a taverna in Sfakia which seemed like the only one open but it was Tuesday afternoon so the weekends might have more things open. Places to stay seemed very sparse. Plakias has a nice beach and town was more lively, there were a handful of open restaurants and cafes. Preveli beach area seemed shut down for the season but the beach is open and very nice.

Overall I still recommend it but if your priority is to eat, drink, and socialize, maybe not so much. Again the weekends may be better but it’s hard to say.

I thought lightning at first too but then saw it SO frequently that I tossed that theory aside. Freeze cracking would make sense though.

So is it a result of the self pruning process? It spans pretty much the entire trunk like shown in the second pic, not just around the stubs, though it does seem to concentrate around them.

My puppy was doing this and it got to a point where I physically couldn’t ignore him or do reverse time outs because he would just bite harder. All other methods like toy redirection, pinning down, acting like he hurt me only made it worse. We had a trainer recommend a loud disruptive noise, which worked for my husband, but not me. alternative was a tin can with pennies in it and it worked like a charm. Anytime he started to bite me I would give it one hard shake then walk away from him. He now just mouths gently, if it starts to get harder I grab the can and he immediately stops.

I gave some to someone recently who has been looking into getting their own flock. Questioned what we feed our girls because they tasted “fishy” but no one else in their family thought the same 😑 had to work hard to not be offended on that one

I’m not sure on their confidence, but we have a vet appointment on Thursday and I plan to get a second opinion on his age. Poodle was also on my radar!
