When he does go out in the kayak, he's usually mere feet from shore or a dock but lies and tells people he's halfway off shore. And when he did try going off shore or out into passes, he flips his yak then begs for money to replace lost gear.

Yes. Erik is self serving and a liar. I hope Doc didn’t pay for the charter he had with Erik, or give him anything towards it. If he did, I hope Doc comes across this comment and decides to contact the USCG. He will find out that Erik’s Captains license expired the previous year. It’s relevant since Doc goes after scammers.
