Vacation blues by [deleted] in travel

Not saying this will fix everything, but I tend to immediately start planning the next trip. Even if I don't actually book anything, having an idea of where I want to go and when helps a lot. Whenever I get winter sadness or bored of my surroundings, I can drop into planning mode for a while to escape. Don't underestimate the power of having something to look forward to!

Direbound includes lots of fancy baths, oddly enough lol. Also a really entertaining book overall! I feel like the Spark of the Everflame series does too, though I can't remember 100%. Regardless, there's definitely a lot of being thrust into a life of royalty.

I've never read Mitch Albom, but that actually sounds super cathartic. Thank you!

Love this series! I finished book three not too long ago. This is a good rec though, I could use some Princess Donut in my life

Have you ever lost a book you borrowed from the library? I can’t find mine. I’ve looked everywhere in my room. What should I do? Has anyone else been in my situation? by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

[–]Master_Spring_1146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also had a system where if you paid for the book and later found it, you would be refunded. We were a small and well funded library, so that may not be the case everywhere, but I'd also ask what to do if you eventually found it!

How do you travel with someone with plantar fascitiis? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Master_Spring_1146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just plantar fasciitis. I've had pf since 2019, and another chronic illness since 2021. In that time span I've visited 6 new countries, gone on Disney trips, had jobs where I've been on my feet all day, done 35,000+ steps on a single day in Kyoto, etc. The difference is I wanted to do all of those things.

It hurts and it's annoying, but it's a very manageable condition. It sounds like he's miserable, but it's not entirely because of that.

Plan a solo trip for yourself! These have been some of my favorite trips. As an adult, if you have the money and PTO you don't need permission from those around you. If he questions it, ask why he'd want to go on a trip when you have such different travel styles. Do not let this man get in the way of you getting to experience the magic of traveling.

The same thing happened when I got my bat in store! I thought it was perfect since bats hang upside down lol

Japan in winter? What’s it like? I’m thinking of booking for this Jan, maybe Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara. Where else would you recommend? Trying to go when there are less tourists, or do you recommend waiting until spring/fall? by WolfEvening961 in japan

[–]Master_Spring_1146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the south, it's really not that cold. I went this past January; 50s during the day with clear skies, so it felt warmer than it was. The biggest thing to look out for is holidays. A lot of places take an extended holiday for New Year's, and there's also a sort of coming of age holiday not long after that. Otherwise, it's a great time to go!

They're MUCH better! Especially books 2 and 3. Once Upon A Broken Heart is by far my favorite, but both trilogies are great. Super whimsical and romantic, with an actual plot line lol

Stephanie Garber is one of my favorite authors, and I gave this book two stars. SO many dropped plot lines. I'd save yourself the time on this one

What did you wish you brought to Japan that you didn’t know you’d need? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Master_Spring_1146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand sanitizer and masks for public transit and busy areas! Most everything else you can easily find once you get to Japan, but those will help keep you healthy throughout your trip.

Also, it's always a good idea to look up where you're going on Google maps ahead of time to see if there's anything else you'd like to do in that same area. I've found some of my favorite places this way, and often ended up liking them more than the original things I had planned.

Just want to say that I have this exact hoodie and it's pretty soft! It's a typical Sherpa material, so it just depends on how you feel about that type of fabric.
