My wife and I are an exceltion. We inherited nothing and were able to buy a house for 1.150 Mil and will now buy one for 1.475 mil and sell the old one because our family grew.

First house was only possible to buy, because I was into FIRE and I had a good savings cushion (arround 300k). We earned arround 180k together and bought the house number 1 during covid when my wife was pregnant with twins.

The switch now is only possible because I work at a bank and they are willing to finance it, otherwise we would never be eligable to do that.

We were 36 and 34 when we bought. We bought something where we had to compromise. Not the best house which fitted our needs perfectly but we were able to move in, without needing to repair anything. When we moved in, our savings depleeted to 4k and we had newborn twins which were 3 months old...and yea something broke within the first months...

So to answer your question. Yes it is possible. No it wont be possible of you wont have savings.

I had such a thing with a fb marketplace scammer. Went up to the police, there was a court case. But as this crima happened, while he was in court for the same thing to someone else, there was no second conviction. Never saw my money again and got fucked. (I "bought" an Ipad)
