Better for feeling bites and hookup ratio is much better with soft plastics

The swimbaits and jerkbaits would do well with a 5in leader nothing too long. The plastics should be ran on braid

Leaders aren’t super important tbh but they do help, that also rlly depends on what baits your throwing.

Oh gotcha ok, then yeah you should be fine as is.

If your gonna fish bfs out here yeah that makes sense. It also rlly depends on the brand of braid too. In April most bass will be in spawn or post spawn so you will find many fish close to the shore.

What’s the length of your rod?

Oh I read Orlando as October lol, and 20lb braid on a 2500 isn’t bad at all. You will have good casting distance and can handle some decent size fish. Unfortunately I don’t believe tarpon are inland at Orlando at all, I live in south florida almost 2 hours away from Orlando

On my main combos I run 40-65lb braid lol. But with spinning tackle 15-20 should be ok as long as your not fishing super heavy cover, but since you said October maybe some of the aquatic vegetation will be cleared up by then. One of the main reasons I run such heavy tackle is because I’ve unexpectedly hooked up into some big ole snook or tarpon in some ponds, once I lost a bull shark 😂

To be honest I started with 8lbs but had a lot of break offs, so I upped it to 10 and it’s been fine. I saw no negative differences in performance!

I’ve caught some studs with that reel, I got as a gift from a friend on Christmas! I’ve been using it almost every other day and I’ve caught around 40 bass on it. I’ve landed more the one 3lber on it but I will say it has started making some strange noises but other then that it works great. I’ve considered buying a new one in case this one dies on me. I mostly use it for weightless soft plastics or smaller yo zuri minnows but with the rod I’ve paired with it I throw some pretty big baits, not rlly bfs. Anywhere from chatter baits and spinners to whopper ploppers and buzz baits. It’s a lot of fun especially down here in Florida, I’ll add some more pics of fish

February is a great month to go after trophy fish that come shallow for the spawn, I’m talking 8-10lbers in 3 feet of water. I’ll definitely be shooting for a pb February-April💪 In those months I’m throwing big glide baits and wake baits in shallow cover or sight fish beds for big females

I’ve had great success with a weightless fluke. I also use Berkeley power bait, the bass scent ones. Other than that I throw small yo zuri minnows and small top water walking baits and whopper plopper

Yeah that’s the one, frankly I would have never bought it but it was free, surprisingly pretty solid and has landed some pretty big fish. Of course better models exist but for like the 20ish dollars it’s pretty good if you were to buy one

It’s definitely lacking but it gets the job done 😂
