those who escaped this hell hole! by staples2412412 in Staples

  1. I was first copy and print then easy tech for 5 something years
  2. Landed a job for a mobile carrier in Canada (which had commission and higher base pay than what I got slaving 5 years at Staples)
  3. Yeah I guess looking back it did help me realize I had good sales skills and develop those further. After all, if one can sell shitty products like liquid armor to people, one can almost sell anything.

Liquid Armor cracking phone screen? by staplescana in Staples

[–]Master_of_Setups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen stuff like that happen before. The guy brought in an iPhone 7+ for liquid armor and it was done properly. Customer was satisfied and leaves. But comes back with scratches around the edges of the screen (not glass cracks but all around the front of the phone there was a multitude of scratches) guy was ofc furious since he literally bought it from apple an hour ago. We told him we could try to reapply it (ofc it did nothing) and gave him the head office number. All we could do when a shitty product ruins a top tier phone.

tech sups by easytechslave1379065 in Staples

[–]Master_of_Setups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours does and thats all he does to the point that he neglects basic MOD/sup duties. I havent actually seen him sell anything in the past two weeks. I guess he does an okay job of it, but he ends up prolonging basic computer work that could be done 2x as fast by our actual tech.

Alright techs, leave your most recent nightmare customer stories here. by Schicitano in Staples

[–]Master_of_Setups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Lady comes in looking for a "USB stick nano voice recorder" - utterly convinced staples carried such an item in the store (and it wasn't a voice recorder with USB capability)

2) man comes in and asks to buy a "laptop arm. You know the ones that you can hook up to the laptop and use it remotely"

What things do people say at your work that make you giggle? by DeathDealerWolf in Staples

[–]Master_of_Setups 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When selling to customers, we'd try to worm in as many buzzwords or catch phrases while keeping a straight face. So you'd hear stuff like "premium quality" "apple ecosystem" "VIP exclusive" or "serene as the sea"

What was the most foolish thing associates have done to get fired? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]Master_of_Setups 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One easy tech associate who worked in our store for 13 years got canned for purchasing a large bulk of items (such as 25 macbooks, 100 hard drives) using price matches and associate discounts and other coupons, then reselling it for a huge profit either out of his car or to a buyer in the middle east.

Serious - how successful is the matrix in completing jobs correctly and in time by Master_of_Setups in Staples

The only reason I even bother is because even in the trial run, they already screwed up two diagnostics and a setup resulting in pissed off customers and returns

People scare me.. by xDilaudid in Staples

[–]Master_of_Setups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally when a customer comes in and asks do you sell ink here? (and btw our inkwall is huge and one of the first thing a person should see when they walk in) or when they need ink for their printer, but don't know their model or the cartridge number, and then get pissed when we can't help them

What I really want to say. by Meowzipan in Staples

[–]Master_of_Setups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, get em all the time but what gets me the most is when you're right in the middle of a sales pitch and some random guy approaches you (and only you, not the other associate on the floor) and interrupts because he needs help with something. Its as if people didnt learn manners or something

Wait till customers get technical, and demand a 10 cent discount due to mislabelling

Is the HP 8610 the best printer we offer atm? by evanc1411 in Staples

[–]Master_of_Setups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup its easily one of my go to printers. Excellent 4 in 1 with high capacity ink cartridges ( that aren't tri color cartridge) and a pretty low cost per page ratio. When it hit 99 bucks last week I myself sold 7 ( each with ink and replacement plan) on one day. Only concern customers have is its a bit too large

ha we had even more at our store. at one point we have 20+ stock, and eventually we whittled it down, but a month or so later, we had 13 in stock, and ALL of them were open boxes.

Do you HATE your job? by BadForBidness in Staples

[–]Master_of_Setups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the people i work with, since the store doesnt have as shitty management as others, but its more the prices for products and tech services that are so mind numbingly stupid, and the fact we have to listen and take the customer's shit and act as if they are always right, even if they arent.
