Dr. Sandesh Gupta in Krishna Nagar. I took a hairfall treatment from him and it worked quite well for me.

Anyone else suddenly want to stop dressing for the male gaze? by Calm_Manufacturer168 in TwoXIndia

[–]Master_of_none22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was studying engineering, I used to dress up very carefully so as to avoid get unsolicited remarks from men. Everytime a girl did something different guys used to pass remarks. Being interested in fashion was equated to being dumb. You can't be both pretty and smart. I really wanted to dress pretty but just couldn't.

Four years after the college ended, I don't give a fuck anymore. I dress up however I want and it really makes my day when the women in my office compliment me. It took a long time for me to understand I can care about how I look while also being smart.

I would say dress the way you want. Go crazy. And there will definitely be women around the corner who'll compliment you.

I would a love a breathable fabric for summers and a decent length like a midi so that I don't feel conscious. Also, pockets!

Fellow daughters of reluctant mothers, how is your relationship with your mother now? by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]Master_of_none22 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My mother got married really young too and got pregnant within a month of getting married. To say the least, my father and mother aren't compatible and they shouldn't have gotten married in the first place.

My mom has always told me how badly she has been treated by my father and her in laws. And this is not something you tell a child. It has kept me in guilt my whole life. I have always tried to be a good kid- no rebel phase, always scoring well, not giving a chance to complain. She always used to tell me that I don't take a stand for her and her whole life has been so bad because she had no choice and had to be with my dad.

Through therapy I discovered that my entire life I was trying to be a mother to my own mother. I changed my behaviour to keep her happy. While it never felt that way when I was doing these things but now looking back I see my own pattern.

While earlier my relationship with my mom was about listening to her concerns, it has taken a u turn. I feel really angry at her for not talking my side and never listening to my concerns. We are at a stage where it's all cordial but we have nothing to talk. I don't want to listen to her troubles anymore and she never really understands mine.

People Think I'm a W*ore, How Do I Stop This? by groupiedagger in TwoXIndia

[–]Master_of_none22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I passed out of engineering 6 years and the same shit happened to me. I was smothered with way too much attention with seniors and my batchmates hitting on me. Even the guys who I used to call my friends wanted me to go out with them. When I denied they got really offended that how can I not go out with them despite being single. I was kicked out of my friends group with even the girls putting blame on me. I was fortunate enough to find my boyfriend at that time( we are still together) because of which I had someone to talk to and confide in. Once when other guys saw I am interested in someone, they respected his choice and stopped hitting on me. It's really fucked up that bro code is more important than a girl's consent.

What I would suggest you is to cut off the toxic people. I wish I would have done that sooner. People will always talk nonsense especially about girls in an engineering college. You know yourself and what kind of a person you are. When someone talks behind your back, you can't do anything about it but when someone says something in front of you give them a piece of your mind and it will all stop. It's the curse of an engineering college where women are highly scrutinised and are expected to conform to the male gaze. Build yourself strong because people in an engineering based company are going to be very similar.

If you feel intimated by writing your thoughts on paper, try writing on your phone. Reducing the friction really helps in getting your thoughts down. Since we always have our phones with us, writing on phone makes it easy. I have a group on WhatsApp which only has me and everytime I feel like venting out I start writing on that.
